And honestly, I don't listen to Rawse and prolly wont listen to this album until sometime next year.

but really... it's like Dead End Hip Hop. One of them nikkas isn't gonna have a positive opinion on a certain genre of music and that's just how it is.

This dude is one of those people who isn't going to have a positive opinion on this kind of music.

Would you trust a Pitchfork review on this album?

Would you :gladbron: if they gave it a bad review?

Btw Ross was bang on in his Brekafast Club interview. Fantano's opinion on hip hop is terrible.

I disagree , he got mostly good reviews off the album and it the Mastermind is very postitive, go thru the thread.

I'm not just talking about the album, I'm just talking in general, but if you aint listening to hip hop like that dont review the shyt........same shyt nipsey say.

Just look at this fukking dude man.......Hip Hop album reviews from this guy.

I never really got into that people invading our culture shyt but got damn what happened to the source xxl even fukking rap pages, at least I knew they was hip hop

Clearly this dude aint listening to street rap everyday
This dude prob knows more about hip hop than most "street nikkas"... thats the irony

Whos opinion would you trust more on food for example... a nikka who eats nothing but Hot Pockets and McDonalds value meal shyt, or a world traveling food critic

"He aint part of the culture" is the biggest cop out ever... lotta nikkas screamin that shyt dont know anything about rap from before Carter 3 and will be the first ones to disrespect a veteran. Prob never heard the original to "Nobody". Say shyt like "its a classic... for this era". If its gabbage its gabbage. Say shyt like, "yo his buzz is crazy. he got mad IG followers. Drake cosigned him. stop hating". Hip hop culture has always been about "keeping it real"... being too sensitive to hear someone not cosign any and every fukking thing is not part of "the culture"

Couldn't stop chuckling/shaking my head throughout the seven pages of this discussion. But I did learn these things about The Coli members:
  • Non-blacks are incapable of having a valuable or even an informed opinion about rap music by virtue of their skin color.
  • If you can't "relate" to the music, you shouldn't have an opinion on it. (Isn't it more or less fact that Ross makes up all the shyt he raps about anyway? What are you relating to? Him lying?)
  • Needle Drop reviews hardly take themselves too seriously, yet everyone seems to get butthurt over them.

What exactly are the necessary "credentials" one needs in order to review music? Because it seems to me like everyone on this entire forum is in some capacity here to discuss their opinion on rap music, Anthony chooses to do so over YouTube videos. Granted, I found his personality to be overbearingly corny and pretentious as well, but to say that he's incapable of listening to music and lending a critical assessment of its quality simply because he's white/"nerdy"/etc. is ignorant, racist and laughable.

Just my two cents.

Ya'll are taking stock in THIS guy's opinion of rap music geared towards black people?
:what:

I'm all for "freedom of speech" and I believe that you should be free to listen to whatever you think sounds good...but this cornball has NEVER held a valid opinion on any sort of rap music that I have EVER listened to, even when I agreed with him.

Dude just ain't about that life.

And don't show me his wack, overweight black girlfriend that looks like she reads anime as proof that he's "down" either.

Fantano has this running joke against Ross thats just getting pathetic.

Ross, like all other rappers, is an ENTERTAINER.

If you can't value the music BASED ON THAT, then what else are you doing????

Rick Ross and Kanye aren't my role models. They're artists whose work I enjoy.

My post is not a defense of Anthony's review of Mastermind. It's an attack on the types of posters I described in the post.

So. Cal
seems like he had his mind made up before he listened to the album

the Dead End Hip-Hop guys give the most thorough and honest reviews imo

https://www.youtube.com/user/deadendhiphop

:childplease: These arrogant ass nikkas man . They was hating in Ye before the track even started. I can't stand hiphop reviews period because everyone in hiphop has their own opinion. It varies from person to person so its really no point in reviewing hiphop albums. People either like it or they don't.

But...you kinda are.

Normally, I'd not be bothered to comment on what new "blog review" is out, but Fantano has a large following and his shyt does get repeated in the community so you kinda have to acknowledge it.

Fantano should stick to reviewing shyt on EDM, Rock, R&B, and generally non-rap/hip-hop fields. He's a hipster. Thats fine and all...but dont pretend to be more than that.

Reviews like this show how greatly out of the loop he is of what people ACTUALLY listen to and what people actually prefer.

And yes, Ross' album WILL be played in every black club, strip club, lounge, and social venue around the country. But Fantano can't let reality seep in for him.

Those dudes are wack too.

Especially that high pitched voice dude. These dudes are over 35 talking about reviewing shyt like their voice matters.

Too many people are focused on the personalities of these artists on the streets and not on the track

Mind you, most of these youtube reviewers just try to come off with an heir of "sophisitication" of what they THINK they should like, without actually succumbing to the fact that to admit they like something means they've limited themselves.

This wack dusty cornball on the DeadEndHipHop vid about Kanye's Drunk in Love said "I can't imagine saying that about my girl...ugh"...:childplease: nikka whats WRONG with you? :heh:

I see where you're coming from. Let me tell you, I'm honestly not familiar with Anthony's reviews; if I'm looking for a review of a rap project, I'm going to be looking for what Pitchfork or XXL has to say about it generally. That being the case, I was unaware that Anthony does have a predisposed bias against Ross's music... and that would be a valid reason to dismiss his opinion on Ross's music. I think a good critical review of anything is unbiased and informed. I don't think it has anything to do with the reviewer's skin color or lifestyle, which is the point I was stressing in my first post.

nikka the fact that u make the assumption that this cac listening to more hip hop and his opinions being more sophisticated than nikkaz in the streets makes him somehow qualified to speak shows u dnt know what the fck we mean by culture fukk nikka

Hip Hop is street music primarily from blacks to blacks

Period.....

This hipster ass cracka has none of the credentials to even speak or review our music from an authority position

And the rest of u dumass nikkaz co signing this cac ass hipster cracka are the same type of fukk nikkaz

Lemme not hear one of yall fukk nikkaz on some "black excelllence"

or "real hip hop back" when ur definition of what "real hip hop" is is what these cacs think it is and what they seem tor elate to

Fck out my face u outside looking in ass nikkaz :camby:
