They could have but probably lose to the Spurs, I know going against MJ is a bad idea but that's better than going against father time; in the 99 season Pippen was 33, MJ 35, Rodman 37, and Kukoc was 30. That 98 team seemed like it was on it's last legs even with having won 62 games, the 50 game season was insanely condensed which would not help such an aging squad.

Bulls management was so bad though, MJ and to a lesser extent Pippen really hid how poorly managed the Bulls have always been :picard:

An old team that made 3 straight runs to the finals and was in the semis the year before that playing 50 games from February into May? That’s a tall task, but the spurs perimeter lineup wasn’t much of a match for theirs. They could’ve done it, though I think it would’ve been their toughest test. It really can’t be understated how toxic management was and still is for that franchise. Publicly looking for Phil’s replacement while they’re defending champs in the middle of 3 straight titles and promising to get rid of him even if they pulled off a perfect season

Rodman would've left the team regardless. I can't see them winning without his rebounding.
