Seems like Millennials and Gen Z want to go into debt to take vacations instead of what their parents did

- Using buy now pay later apps
- Taking out loans to go on vacations
- Getting into debt to go to DisneyLand
- Already in debt, and going on vacation with a loan to forget about debt

Seems like the older generation was more about trying to save for retirement, waiting until their older in their late 50s and 60s, and then start traveling 5-6 times a year. This generation is f*ck it, I'm going on vacations multiple times a year in my 20s, debt be damned :dead: :dead: :dead:

Their parents ran up loans credit cards just the same…

are we that :flabbynsick: that they probably never heard of good guys, radioshack, frys, etc?
Heard of Good Guys but don't remember seeing one. We had Radio Shack. Frys just make me hungry.
None of this is a excuse for being an idiot. And the bolded is nobody's fault but their own.
The youth don't run corporations or write laws that set the COL leaving wages in the dust.

You really got posters in here making it sound like buying a home is so easy these days :mjlol:

Gotta be oldheads as that shyt just feasible these days for a lot of people even if you’re making bread.

You got dual income couples struggling, but two people should be enough to buy a house. That’s not even factoring in childcare costs as not everyone has the luxury of having parents or friends to help out.

This American Dream that some are spewing in here is long gone.

1) i got debt too, everybody has debt. but everybody doesn't have extreme debt
2) that's not at all wtf i said. the problem with new generations is it's always somebody else's fault when they're fked up.....not matter what it is. that so-called buzzword that's been used for ages "accountability" is not a thing with younger generations.

The problem with this opinion is that you're letting your generalization and what you see on social media speak on behalf of all the newer generations, which just isn't the case at all. Hence us calling out your comments.

The extreme debt is also a bit disingenuous as education now is a lot more expensive compared to what it used to be.

Taking out debt to pay off debt ain’t the move though. It’s funny cause the guy in the video is calling out these people for their decisions but people aren’t talking about it

True, but that just speaks to how expensive things have become these days compared to how they used to be.

Not everyone is out here spending lavishly or traveling.

The rich do it too. They just have a lifeline that the average person doesn't.

My lady and I will be closing on a home in two weeks or so and saw alot of people our ages(mid 20s' low 30s') at open houses. Millennials are buying houses, just not at the same pace as past generations. We make good income together so our total mortgage will be about 27% of our take home which isn't too bad compared to other people. Now, if it was just me by myself? I'd have like 1k left after all bills which is doable but not ideal. In 2025, you will need to be a dual income family to even get the idea of buying a home. To note we don't have kids so that would put an extreme damper on our finances.

For Millennials going into massive debt for vacations; a lot of them feel like things aren't going to get better so its better to enjoy the time you have. I can't blame them with how things are going. Prices of things are skyrocketing before our eyes. I was born in 1994 and I remember a gallon of milk was like 99c, a good loaf of bread the same price. Hell even the regular size bag of chips, 1 liter pops were a dollar. How much are those things now? Might be because I'm an adult, but I am seeing the prices of things increase over months rather years.

I see both sides :mjpls:

The younger generation has been absolutely fukked over and there is a struggle to see a future right now with the way things are going in this country and they don't want to waste their youth and getting experiences with vacations.

But at the same time, there is a severe lack of foresight. Like someone else said these people are most likely going to live into their 70s and living for the now instead of the future is a very risky ordeal when you're drowning yourself in debt. You're going to need savings, assets and security as you get older so you don't have to work as hard and stress so much. I understand it's very difficult but you have to find a way to get ahead where you can save money. If you focus on it like your life depends on it and dedicate yourself to it, then it becomes addictive and a habit. But unfortunately you will have be willing to sacrifice amd alot of people ain't tryna hear that. :manny:

I work with a LOT of younger people. My POV isn't based off of social media, I don't even be on regular socials like that.

The most entitled useless generation yet.

Baby Boomers grew up with their folks telling them about the Great Depression.

Baby Boomers passed on their work ethic to GenX.

Times got better because of all the work the Boomers and GenX did and paved the way for good living.

Yeah cost of living is not great, but the access to food, travel, communication, medicine, etc., are far better than what it was 50 years ago.

There's a saying - "Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times."

Well we are in the middle of society creating weak men. Hard times is gonna follow soon enough.
