Seems like Millennials and Gen Z want to go into debt to take vacations instead of what their parents did

That kind of mindset is why a lot of people are struggling in their 40s and 50s and worrying about being able to retire when they get to retirement age instead of stacking, investing, etc in their 20s and 30s. I'm not saying not to enjoy life when your young, but the majority of people live into their 70s and beyond.

Yep the type of goofs that think they will magically get it together one day.

I do not blame them.

Travel, see the world, get life experiences, meet new people, eat new food, learn a few words of a new language for a few weeks. But please do have a proper holiday, not just a trip for IG.

Is you crazy?! I gotta do it for IG, you got me fukked up :picard:

You really got posters in here making it sound like buying a home is so easy these days :mjlol:

Gotta be oldheads as that shyt just isn't feasible these days for a lot of people even if you’re making bread.

You got dual income couples struggling, but two people should be enough to buy a house. That’s not even factoring in childcare costs as not everyone has the luxury of having parents or friends to help out.

This American Dream that some are spewing in here is long gone.

All I know is a lot of people in here should get back to work instead po

- Using buy now pay later apps
- Taking out loans to go on vacations
- Getting into debt to go to DisneyLand
- Already in debt, and going on vacation with a loan to forget about debt

Seems like the older generation was more about trying to save for retirement, waiting until their older in their late 50s and 60s, and then start traveling 5-6 times a year. This generation is f*ck it, I'm going on vacations multiple times a year in my 20s, debt be damned :dead: :dead: :dead:

Any black people in that video?

Why would you take a loan out to go on a vacation? That's a complete luxury.

that fūck nicca puff was paying a woman's 10K a month rent. People with money living flagrantly doing dumb shīt. Random I know but if it

Anyway, these are the type of ppl posing for the gram. There's no reason to do shyt like this unless you can pay it off in a reasonable amount of time.

Its crazy how we still have ppl pushing that "stack money, invest" mindset like Americans are drowning in debt on basic living expenses alone. You need money to invest money. When your monthly expenses exceed your paychecks, living in a rented home with your 3 roommates, you don't have money to save. And that's not factoring in emergency expenses or student loans. Discipline has little to do with it.

But you got that credit card. We live in a debt society and people leverage their debt to enjoy life. This is our new normal.
No matter how much money you make you still have to live within your means. That's a problem that scales up because if you're making $35K a year and living beyond your means suddenly making $150K isn't going to teach you money management. People get more stuff, a bigger house, better SUVs/trucks. They live at equilibrium or a deficit to what they make.

People will shame folks who will just get in the car and head to Atlanta or Myrtle Beach or some shyt… I hate them folks. Vacation shamers truly piss me off. Going into real debt taking vacations is stupid as hell. Just do what you can afford. One tank trips is a major thing for a reason. A lot of people only travel so much so they can flex on you anyway… acting like they’re better than folk cause they went to Dubai and shyt :russ: People need to move smarter out here.

I travel a bit for work. I hate travelling in general. I hate airports, I hate airplanes with their shytty legroom, I hate packing and I hate living out of a suitcase. Basically no matter where I'm at I'm just ready to go back home after 2 days. So I'll never understand anyone going into debt for it or anything that's just over as soon as you leave and a lot really just do the exact same shyt they do at home. "But the memories", yeah, whatever. Different strokes, different folks tho.

But I get why Gen z is just like :manny: about it all because we just compounded what the boomers did to us and fukked this whole thing up for them. They see no light at the end of the tunnel and most feel like there's no use lying to themselves. I don't agree with just giving up on yourself, but it's not just as simple as "just do exactly what I did in a completely different world and you'll make it."

At least for us that were at that point 20 years ago, everything was rough but it DID bottom out relatively quick that you could see things slowly getting better. Houses were dirt cheap in most cities for a good chunk of those years so there was a window where if you could get it together job wise, there was a chance for you to have that.

There has been no bottom for them and unlike 2005-2007, there are plenty of people out here that can afford these way overpriced houses (and cars..) and if the people can't, corps are more than happy to swoop in and keep the real estate market from collapsing. Things only continue to get worse for those that can't afford it so while I don't get people's obsession with traveling, I get them prioritizing enjoying what they can with the money they do have if you feel you just gonna end up struggling either way.

Just don't put yourself in a bigger hole to do it.

Gen Z just went through a once every 100 years pandemic during their most formidable ages. Many of them were robbed of their proms, walking at graduation, a big chunk of their college experience etc.

And many millennials are living through the first time in 3-4 generations where the average 30 year old is worse off than their parents when they were 30.

There’s a certain nihilism that comes with that for many people. A lot of people don’t believe in the future, so why would they sacrifice the present for it?

Why wait to enjoy vacations when you’re old and have back pain and arthritis.

This working to enjoy retirement was always strange to me why not enjoy your life when you’re in your prime.
shyt you supposed to be vacationing and chillin when you get older. People going into super debt as a youngster is why you have chicks looking like Madea serving you fries at Burger King and shyt. Work smarter not harder is a thing. I’m listening to the video in the OP and this chick is talking about taking out loans to pay off credit cards… I’m not debt free bit I’m not trying to get to that point :picard: The worse time in my life was when I jumped on the payday loan wheel.. I’m neeeeever trying to get to that point again… taking trips I can afford is part of that process.

When you’re older you suppose to be spending time with the family not kayaking in white water rapids or skydiving. I mean if your body can handle it cool but most bodies break down past 60.

Debt is basically a deal with the devil.

I've seen too many people get fukked up by it. I know a bro who's still suffering from a decision he made back when he turned 18 — he's 35 now.

A woman I know is working 2 jobs and a side hustle to afford basic rent with her boyfriend who also works hella long hours. She says vacation debt is worth it — all this while she tells me she dreams of going back to school.

My wake up call was seeing an old black man; he had to be in his 80s) riding the subway to work security, and seeing my dad's friends who would tell me how they were "the big man around" when they were younger but struggling living in a basement apartment in their 50s because of debt.
