They have/had a series called "Detail" which was hosted by Kobe Bryant initially.
Adam Silver is calling out ESPN mainly in his comments to JJ. Yeah, it also applies to TNT especially Shaq being a casual and Barkley admitting he doesn't watch games/shids on the product. But with Disney, they're the largest partner, they have the NBA Finals on ABC, they have a daily studio show on ESPN with NBA Today, and they rarely break down the game!
They went all in on transaction/trade culture, the Woj bombs, and the palace intrigue of the select few star studded teams or large market franchises.
Also, ESPN favors selling ads during their telecasts so they have a pregame show that's devoid of any substance. They also don't have a halftime show because its 13 minutes of commercials and 90 seconds of 'analysis'. Atleast on TNT, they have a halftime show that's 6-7 minutes long and Kenny runs to the board spending a minute breaking down film.
If I was Silver, I'd be demanding changes in the next TV deal. I'd also be searching for partners who can grow the actual game.
