I’m not mad but I don’t like it. I guess this is the future of sports athletes. She was just getting all kinds of praise and even got a custom goat emoji. Oh well.. good luck to the young lady.
Ehhh a celebrity/public figure has more access to mental help therapy than the average person. That type of help isn't cheap even if you have insurance.
No way a healthy Simone biles is losing, there are individual events also!Americans lookin real weak right now in sports folding under pressure. How you get injured after a tweet. #1 sports move of a vet. Pretend to be hurt when ya bout ta lose. Shout out to kawhi Durant and lebron
But they also had it out for her soon as she arrived in Tokyo talmbout her routine was too difficult, this the Olympics! The fukk Dat mean
I was watching the event she was in the other day, and she looked like she was on the verge of tears. I just thought it was the pressure of being a young g.o.a.t.

It's more so that if it is accepted by media personalities the regular folk will follow. The stigma still generates more stories than necessary. See Paul George, Kevin Love, Naomi, etc.
It is unfortunately something that people are reactive towards than proactive in finding help. People will dismiss mental anguish when they see someone not winning. Claim they're making excuses, like in this very thread.
She was definitely off breh, she was making a lot of mistakes, but she was still leading. Could be stress and pressure, could be she just didn't want to be there![]()
kinda weak but expected from this generation.Curious why it hit her NOW. If you were hesitant, you'd think this would have popped up through all the training, Olympic trials, qualifiers etc.
Getting to the All-Around final and NOW having issues..........do we think it's really mental, or do we think it's a situation where she felt like she was going to lose and didn't want to lose?
Crazy thing is that she was #1 in the qualifier round on Sunday. She was totally off her game AND STILL was #1 in points. Her routines are so much harder than anyone else but her execution is about the same level. Best comparison is John Doe squats 300 lbs with good (but not perfect) form while Jimmy Doe squats 500 lbs with the same level of form. Neither has "perfect" form but it's decent/pretty good and Jimmy is lifting a lot more weight.
This Olympics has been kinda rough for the U.S.
I think we've been relying on the females way too much. Our women have generally had more opportunities than women in most parts of the world at a wide variety of sports. This has allowed us to use our superior females to inflate our medal counts against over-matched countries. The men do "ok" here and there but the females in gymnastics and swimming have really pulled us ahead in recent Olympics.
This year, the rest of the world is getting more competitive with the female side. It's possible that we just don't like Asian Olympic games as much because of the time difference. Japan is doing better than usual since they're the host country. Simone probably should have retired tbh. She's GOAT but I think she's put too much pressure on herself.

brehs are really taking this mental illness reason to heart
the real reason is that she was the only one who was excelling in the games all the other gymnasts are not at her level
she would be carrying the whole team and that's way too much pressure for one person
Is society just getting more accepting of mental issues as a reason or are there more mental issues plaguing today’s athletes?
That's a disingenuous take to lump those athletes together seeing as Naomi Osaka got more sympathy for her mental health issues in the press than say someone like PG and Kevin Love. Even The Coli is hypocritical with their stances when it comes to mental health as they treated Osaka's issues with kid gloves, but will turn around and crack jokes around PG13 and Kevin Love's mental health issues.
The reason I speak up about Osaka is that she's perfectly fine with showing up on TV and doing interviews and such, but is scared to touch the mic and talk when she takes her losses. You don't want to talk to the press, but you're perfectly fine with accepting ESPY awards in front of a large group of people or doing magazine covers and interviews. Her success in tennis has made her into the popular athlete that she is now, so it's disingenuous and unfair not to answer their questions when they've helped promote her and become who she is now.
Before you say the media isn't needed for athletes, that's a lie and even you know that.
