How you explain Joey Bada$$? If you're a fan of a genre of music, you always revisit the classics. New jack Rock-n-Roll fans always fukk with the classics.

Joey Badass is a hipster fakkit.

All that " oh he's so cool for appreciating the 90's for being so young " shyt went away now that he's in his 20's

But in regards to Atlanta specifically.... Outkast were never as influential in Atlanta or to the rest of rappers in Atlanta to have a lasting influence 20+ years later.

Its really cuz alot of the influential business companies moved or made departments down there some years ago. So its mostly business i think. Like how the studios and agencies for actors and actresses are in LA/Hollywood.

Rappers from LA and New York ( where most major labels have headquarters) go to Atlanta to get on.....

Atlanta has had a reputation for being a hub for black music, all the way from the LaFace days....but now, it's who decides what's gonna be popular to everyone else.

A3C is where you want to be if you trying to get on...or if you want to link up with who's next

Andre is more interested in doing Gillette commercials and movies than rapping.

Big Boi should get more credit for keeping the Outkast brand alive, but everyone just dikkrides Andre cause he raps once or twice a year and goes back into hiding.

If it wasn't for Big Boi, nobody would be talking about Outkast anymore.

That's awesome but it doesn't change anything I said. A DF affiliation in 2015 is virtually useless. The C tier artists like the ones I mentioned could at least call on Outkast or Goodie Mob for a verse back in the 90's....aside from the novelty of telling people "you know Future is DF, right?" it's kinda pointless.

Fred.

Future didn't use the name to push/make his music.. he's said he took what he learned in the dungeon and made his own lane after his old crew fell out

Nah man 'Kast will always be talked about 20 years tomorrow 'cause Big and Dre showed that music really has no boundaries no matter where it comes from.. and u can try all kinds of ideas..u just gotta make it mean somethin

Joey Badass is a hipster? You're reaching hard. :childplease: He's a traditionalist. He put his own twist to that style.

A traditionalist? :heh:

he's a hipster breh, no ways around it....he was born in 1995.

NYC rappers born in the Late 70's and early-mid 80's..who lived thru the 90's aren't even on the shyt he's on.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
The lyrics of these new age ATL rappers :scust:.

All they rely on is beat and a catchy hook..

None come anywhere near Big Boy and Andre when it comes lyrics.
the lyric decline hit all coasts

troy ave is no nas

these south nikkas is no scarface

these west nikkas are no ice cube

midwest nikkas ain't em

there's about 20 southern rappers who had those bars in their era.. that shyt is unheard of these days

he's also worked with khujo goodie, slimm calhoun, backbone, bubba sparxxx, Mr dj and of course organized noize. Rico wade was the a&r of his last album.

Breh, Outkast ain't dropped an album in 12 years.

I'm not calling into question his affiliation....I said he's DF just like U-God is Wu-Tang.

I realize Future has a lot of fans on here but if DF was in their prime, Future would've been a C-D tier rapper. Now he's A tier just by process of elimination. That's all I'm saying.

Fred.
you just said he wasn't df because he couldn't get a verse from kast, now you're saying he's a D member. which is it?

He's right tho, Future aint outrapping any of DF...he has his own lane/style currently. but when it comes to just straight up rapping... he'd be U-God status

Most people only bring up Future being Dungeon Family, when people use Outkast/DF to shyt on the rest of Atlanta rap.

You can make the same thread about NY, and how their current MC's are a slap in the face to the stars of yesteryear :yeshrug:.

You aint lying though, Atlanta hasn't produced a lyrical artist in a while, and while a great amount of it is repetitive trash, they still run rap though.

not really. future already has albums that are superior to other df albums.
