historically the most powerful console has almost never been the best selling console. The power difference is fuel for fanboy wars on the internet. the common consumer doesn't really perceive it like the guys who argue online about this stuff. The Xbox One is in the ballpark of a PS4 and passes the looks good enough threshold. This isn't like the Wii vs the Xbox 360 or PS3. Its not that drastic a difference.

What I'm saying is Microsoft is in this position because they thought they could dictate to the market things like DRM and Kinect being mandatory. They pissed off a lot of their fans. We're in the early adapter phase right now and the market is far more sensitive to stuff like that. Not because their box has extra functionality the competition doesn't.

And historically, the most powerful console wasn't cheaper and entered the market at the same time as it's direct competitor. History also showed that the first console to 10 milli usually wins a generation...how'd that play out for MS?

and whose fault is that? Even without the horrible PR, the fact would have remained that the Xbox wouldn't have a 1 year headstart and ease of programming this time. I do agree the gap wouldn't be as big, but there would still be a gap.

No its not anti-consumer DRM policies and an inflated price tag due to them packing Kinect in and raising the console's price are why they're in the position they're in now.

Before the Xbox One came out I was one of its biggest critics here. I bought one and used it and I'll be damned its my preferred Blu-Ray player, I plugged my cable box up to it and to this day still use it with that also. Having voice commands integrated into my cable and movie watching experience is better than I thought and I don't want to go back to not having those.

thats another problem, the experience is so unique that it tough as hell really describing it to someone outside the context of practical use. i mean none of the pressers or videos or tutorials really did anything for me. it wasnt until i got my windows phone and used it for a while that i figured it might be something to this MS, windows 8, user experience thing.

i dont think anybody ever denied that MS was at fault for that. they laid out a bunch of whatever but could not properly communicate how it would benefit anybody, and pissed everybody off. sony rode that wave in.

all the rumors were out there months in advance and many didn't believe it.....not calling no names. And then when it ended up being true (specs, drm policies, etc)...... :kermitnunya:

I was buying a used one, but only keeping it for the Madden early access, then taking it back to gamestop
