The point was that feelings were mixed, it wasnt like today where everyone thinks everything from that era is classic.
And people were not hating on RD cause Jay was not known for anything else and h e wasn't commercially pushed. It's hard to say what exactly everyone was sayin obviously but it was the switch from Illmatic to IWW that people were hating on mostly not IWW independently. To clarify, certain people who bought and fukked with Illmatic and then bought IWW would call it ignorant, rushed or whenever cause they were expecting something close to Illmatic. The people that bought RD knew what they were buying and hoping for exactly that.
Other than that nothing about the albums is really the same, one is a consistent real life album and the other is just entertainment with no real structure. That they both glamorized Italian mobsters/Colombian pushers with clothes and some bars is basically the only thing.
