Look yo, its very simple. I just broke it down to you. If he makes projects like GKMC then he can afford to go 3 years in between records. As I clearly illustrated. that album sustained him for well over a year. With his last project.. he needs to drop something else. You can't roll out multiple singles with this. "I" was a dud no matter how positive it was. Different songs get played a different times of the year. he has no summer time records to put out off that album this summer. He should've dropped this in October or September.

He can make whatever music he wants. He just has to know when to drop it and how to drop it.
Why does he HAVE to do that? You're acting like Aftermath can afford to let the only nikka on their label go. Kendrick can do whatever the fukk he wants without any badgering from the label or any fukks given to the critics.

When you put out a God tier album, you can wait 3 years

Meanwhile Drake drooped a project 2 years in a row and is completely terrible

NWTS dropped in 2013. IYRTITL dropped 2015

And only people who are not fans of Drake music thinks it's terrible

People cry for real hip hop and music with meaning but when Kendrick gives it to you nikkas still wanna complain.

QFT.

Quality/Substance >>>>

Aubrey is a glorified Nelly to me, but that's his lane and he's good at it. But that mainstream success don't last forever. Quality does.

Nah.

I don't want Kendrick dropping mediocre songs and/or albums like Drake did last summer to stay hot. Does Cole need to drop another album this year to stay hot? Of course not. Kendrick took his time with TPAB and it was well worth the wait. TPAB is a masterpiece.

If Alright is pushed it can be a hit single but probably won't because of the "We hate popo, wanna kill us dead in the street for sure." in the hook. But this whole argument that TPAB isn't good because it doesn't have bangers is silly. Making top 10 hits isn't Kendrick's lane. People cry for real hip hop and music with meaning but when Kendrick gives it to you nikkas still wanna complain.
you must be out of your mind.

Kendrick dropped a mediocre song in"I" to stay hot last summer.

Making top 10 hits is exactly what Kendricks lane is.

Quality is subjective.

Drake is a much better rapper, writer performer, etc than Nelly. Actually there is nothing in common with Nelly and Drake.

Nelly was purely a hitmaker.

Drake is has beloved albums, features, dictates what rap sounds like, etc

Drake is close to Jay if anything.

When was Nelly ever celebrated for his rapping?

Not to mention Drake has the clubs in chokehold Nelly music never did that.

Drake is Jay but y'all can't see because we are living in the Drake era

Maaaaan let that dude do his thing. If we gotta wait another 2 yrs to get a album from him then so be it. Dude put a lot of thought into this album. From the overall concept to the overall feel of the album. Dude went and got the best producers that's been killing it in the underground scene for yrs. Not that I'm into sales, but his album is gold so far. So he's doing alllllriigght. It's one of those albums that people will eventually catch on to.

He put jazz, funk, spoken word, and nu-soul all thru this album with legends sprinkled in there. I can go on. With that being said I don't put him in the Jay Nas big league conversation yet. Some longevity gotta set in. I do think he's one of the best doing it right now, as far as the new school goes. I like the direction he's going in. Finally something completely different from what we've been hearing for the past 10yrs. And Let this ADD generation catch up to him. Shyt they need 2-3yrs to process this album. Cleanse them of all this bullshyt they've been taught to listen to. Can't even recognize good music when it's right In front of u.

Aubrey is not that great of a rapper to me. :manny:

I get where you're coming from, but I said Nelly because of the hit making.

And Aubrey isn't in the same breath rapping wise as Camel even though I "get" the comparisons. nikkaz who "freestyle" by telling cats to hold on while he recites raps he has saved on his phone? I lost a TON of respect for Aubrey after that bullshyt.

No one can rap like Jay but Drake is as effective as Jay.

And holding some shyt against Drake that was 6 years ago that didn't disprove anything about him. Freestyling is overrated anyway.

Is this not a great example of rapping? both songs show elite rapping ability.

The 1st song is just straight in the booth spitting. The 2nd songs is just going crazy with the flow.

It's a great sophomore album and it adds to a pretty strong discography however, the album plays back like a Nas record. It's like Kendrick's Streets Diciple, there are bangers but there really aren't any jawns for the summer..

It's still one of the best albums to drop this year. I do agree with he OP, he can't take 3 years again. He saw a sharp sales decline with this album and he's supposed to be the off-set to Drake who is clearly the hottest MC at the moment.

Not at all.

And yeah, I'm holding that against him because that means that you are NOT a real MC in my mind. I personally don't have respect for that.

He has his lane and I respect that. But he's not close to camel IMO and overall just doesn't impress me.

These arguments are ridiculous. Every time a good album drops and gets critically acclaimed from fans there's always a colilitical smear campaign to shut it down. Making so many attempts at rearranging ur thoughts. On some what u heard isnt great music at all. He hid behind thundercat and changed his sound because he didnt know what direction hes goin in. Its a conspiracy on this board lol. If u dont like it fine. But honestly, I wouldnt spend so much time in a thread talking about a album I dont like. I'll make my point and keep it movin. Or I wouldn't even enter the thread.

Talking about he needs to stay relevant. For fukkin what. He just dropped a new album a month ago. Just because its not buzzin on the coli (which it is because this thread was made) doesnt mean the world isnt listening to greatness.

I honestly blame Jay-Z for this current state of hip hop over saturation. Before him rappers could wait 2 years or so to drop albums, but he came thru and dropped albums for about 8 straight years and spoiled us. And I'm a big Hov fan, but now u got cats like Gucci dropping 10+ projects a year, just to stay hot. No one got time to soft thru all that shyt. No other genre of music demands the artists to drop music every few months or once a year to stay relevant. I rather the artist take they time and craft something with a lasting impression than to hand me microwave rap. Just my opinion.
its waynes fault. and file sharing.

this is what should happen...drop a Black Hippie project sometime in the fall with a few bangers and the whole camp will be good...

i liked TPAB, but the album ain't got replay value like that...
to who? to you ? because I been palying it 4 times a day since its release and its the same thing for my homies

and its the gighest rated album of all time

nobody cares aabout your personal preferences (those preferences determine what has replay value for someone).
