should of released "Focus" as a single instead of "pump it up" but it was 2003 and labels wanted another Nelly or Chingy.

But yeah...Joe Budden dissed Jay Z on the Pump it Up remix and got blackballed.

:mjlol:

That was the end of that chapter.

He was a junkie and that contributed to his laziness. Also, Ransom exposed him as a fake street rapper, which made him appear counterfeit to a lot of people. When it became clear that he was scared of Ransom, a lot of people stopped fukking with his music.

He thought he was doper than he was and should have been making friends doing remixes and shyt to keep his name hot.

Instead he got shelved entirely because of his doing and became a mixtape rapper.

Dude is literally the only person that got killed by Lil B

"How you mainstream and go back underground? :dahell:"

stop man... most jersey artist have an alternative sense to their music. Just off black music alone we had:

naughty by nature
Redman
Queen Latifah
Fugees
L. Hill
Wyclef (respectable solo career)
Sza
Whitney Houston
Akon
Total

And that’s not even pop or rock
u named a litany of r&b acts. im talking rap so i agree with nbn, queen and redman

Treach and Redman

Yep, Treach was a gangsta sex symbol dude apart of feel good/party singles, and Redman was a witty clever stoner dude. On the surface, Joe Budden didn’t have a really defined presence, but there were enough women that favored him around that time

He sounds weird rapping honestly:francis:

Maybe it's because I listened to the pod first but after listening to his music his voice and flow are just weird and the beats he picks are way too busy sonically

Budden had a moderately good come up, that Marques Houston joint was getting major play on radio and MTV etc. plus he was in video game soundtracks. Not many rappers were getting them at the time until it was getting popular. Pump It Up was a hit whether people agree or not.
