So with backlash against Ross would Eminem's "Guilty Conscience" get the same?

Eminem made fun of a fukking dead paraplegic Christopher Reeve on relapse and nobody said shyt.Dude was spitting about fags and mutilating women bodies and no one batted a eye lash.

Its all right if its all white.

Lol @ "No one batted an eyelash". He had plenty of flac from GLAAD, parents, Bill O'Reilly types etc. He didn't lose any sponserships because he didn't have any sponserships. He continued to sell because controversy sells especially to teens who think they can rebel through Em.

Ross losing his sponsorship isn't about if being a different time, or the different perspectives the songs were written in. Its about one artist being a representative of a corporate sponsor and the other, not. Ross lost some money from this and that hurts for sure, but anyone thinking this is gonna hinder his career is retarded. The flack is not gonna stop him from selling Millie of records

Hmm...well there was a lot of revisiting during this thread. really takes me back. the trl takeover. pissing off gladd, em kinda went at anybody who wanted it in his younger years. I guess around SSLP he wasnt sellling shady records t shirts and shyt and really didnt have to worry about nothin.

people say "bu bu bu bu but its a concept song" what if jigga and kanye did that song with jigga bein dre and yeezy talkin about fukkin a 15 year old passed out bytch :yeezy:

they are cash cows. they are smart enough to not do even a 'concept' song like that also but what if it was on watch the throne?

I guess it got covered because it is/was Em's whole steeze to rap about weird shyt rape/beating his mom/kim/drugs/ken keniff/fags/etc so its overlooked and people still raise a stink about it but hes been doin it for over 10 years so its run into the ground.

Is it about the money? If Ross sold records like Em would Reebok kept the deal and accepted/released a statement like :Rappers dont do everything they say they do in song, the line was misinterpreted. Reebok and Ross are against rape.

Or is it because ross is black and even the hint of admitting to doing something like that as a black man is vile, questionable, should be seen as evidence and thoroughly investigated. Whereas a white man is just talkin' the talk?

Oh really? People are upset with Rick Ross' lyrics about raping and drugging a girl because he doesn't have multis? :stopitslime:

The correct answer is of course because hes white so he is 'crazy' instead of 'violent'

yep

i mean the shyt the slim shady lp cover has em n hailey like 10feet away from a car with kim in the trunk

wha ross said aint got shyt on the slim shady cover

ross took a loss..money wise...

em aint never took a loss for the shyt he said..he gained

em did his shyt n got all kinds of doors open to em...got his own label...became an actor got lipton ice tea...chrysler n nike endorsements

yea em caught a shyt storm...that same shyt storm...put food on his plate...open up doors for him to do more than rap...n all his albums guaranteed platinum

industry knew em was controversial ...still broke bread with em...pushed album sales to diamond

rick struggles to even go gold...

he did have backlash but Em didn't have a lucritive endorsement/sponsorship deal with someone like Reebok or anyone at all. he was only representing himself & Aftermath Records

This

Plus on that song he's portraying a character, not his views. It's a storytelling track

Im dying at the 'eminem was just playing a character' excuse. Not only because it just is pathetic but also because it doesn't excuse him talking about killing his ACTUAL WIFE.

So I guess the same shyt excuse can be used for the CO. Rick Ross is not really a big drug king pen. He is playing a 'role' just the same.

If Ross got the backlash that Em caught he'd be out of business. This is hardly being covered in the news and nobody gives a shyt about Reeboks.

Losing an endorsement deal or having a record pulled isnt the end of the world. And if Ross and his team are smart they can use this situation to come back stronger. This is the most relevant he's been to the non-rap world since they found out he used to be a CO.

You really can't be serious. He is well known by non-rap fans. People know who Rick Ross is.

I swear some of you guys cannot separate your own personal opinion from reality. It cracks me up when people say 'non rap world' like rap music hasn't been dominating mainstream culture in America forever now.

The major difference here is that Rick Ross had endorsements, he is the face of a major corporation, he is supposed to act a certain way.

Eminem had no endorsements at the time, he was just doing him and he could give a fukk less.

Em got picketed and had people going at his head, but he was just in it for the music, so it didn't affect his career as a musician, just as this hasn't affected Ross' career as a musician, only his career as a spokesperson.

His record sales reflect his mainstream position.

He's never gone platinum.

There are 300+ million people in this country.

Come back with a stronger argument.

Rick Ross isn't an International star like Em, I honestly don't think I've ever heard a Rick Ross record on radio over here.

No, his sales reflect who is interested enough to PURCHASE his album. You don't need to purchase a rappers album to know who he is. You also don't need to purchase his album to like songs he makes. I've never bought a Rick Ross record and neither has my 50 year old WHITE uncle but we both know who Rick Ross is, see how that works?

You need to re-think your argument breh, not me.

Rick Ross isn't an International star like Em, I honestly don't think I've ever heard a Rick Ross record on radio over here.

That's great but you still know who he is right?

Thanks for proving my point.
