I don't disagree but he is already headed toward more longevity, Hollywood power and $ than both of them.

With that size, he needs a villain role on a big superhero movie without any "funny" lines. Too bad he's a goofball and no one takes him seriously.

IMO he needs to look more like a regular person and hop on a great "dad and son" type of drama, I think he can still change his image.

Which is why it's disappointing that he doesn't have a Rocky, a Terminator, a True Lies, a Die Hard...

The franchise would sell itself. Just a simple action movie franchise...minimal cgi, just guns, fists and explosions.

He's big, he can sell fight scenes, he has charisma...not really sure what his problem is.
That's my point. WWF was his Terminator, that was his Rocky. You ask anyone about wrestling and they'll say the Rock or they'll do the eyebrow raise. Bro if I ask my grandmother to name one wrestler she's gonna say the Rock.

I was legit thinking of this yesterday.

While Rock took the Will Smith approach of starring in blockbuster movies, he doesn't have that one franchise that HE defined. Will had Bad Boys and Independence Day, I would say MIB too but one can argue that was a franchise before Will.

Rock has...nothing. Fast and Furious was a franchise before he came on but you do have to give him credit that he helped skyrocket it even more.

Now none of this is a knock on him or anything. Everybody has their route in life they go. Rock will still go down as one of the biggest and most bankable actors of our life time. He just doesn't have that transcending role or character yet that people will always hail him for...and maybe he dgaf if he does or not. nikka still rich AF.

It was a comic book before Will and that's no different than RDJ playing Tony Stark and setting up the entire MCU

Trying to steal other people’s waves

I like The Rock (the person). He’s a humble person. I dislike his stans. If he was that big he would have multiple blockbuster series behind him by now. He’s always been more popular than he was commercially viable.

And my point is, stallone was Rocky before Maivia, he was Rambo. Arnold was the Terminator, he was Conan, he had multiple roles that were more iconic and we have to look at different mediums to even compare these guys.

People know Hulk Hogan just as well as the Rock, and he had a buzzing movie career, but they wouldn't dare compare him to Arnold in his Prime in 92.

On the real tho, no one was checking for MIB before the movie. Will defined MIB cuz no one can think about it without associating him with it. Plenty folks knew of Iron man well before RDJ. Folks forget Marvel been a household brand, hell, Iron Man was a cartoon in the 90s amongst all the other well known characters

He needs to squeeze in a drama or a serious role every now and then in between all the big budget action/franchise shyt he does constantly. That would be a good look for him and to see if he actually has more range in him as an actor.

Can't forget he is no Will Smith either, which is who The Rock is supposed to be a replacement for. He is clearly taking roles that should be going to Will. I hope Tyrese calls up his good friend Will and gets him to take The Rocks spot. Imagine the energy that would add to the franchise when we see that tweet #FastFamily:respect:.

I don’t think the world is ready for this level of fukkery :ohlawd:

Truth be told, damn near all of those iconic characters/movies you mention happened by luck:

- Stallone did commentary on 'First Blood' saying nobody wanted to do the film and even he thought it would flop while filming.

- All the major studios turned down Terminator and nobody believed in James Cameron.

- Bruce Willis was told not to do 'Die Hard' and nobody thought it would blow up like that.

It happened even recently with 'John Wick' which nobody really saw coming. Moral of the story is, you can't always predict what's gonna be a classic or an actor "picking the perfect role"...it just happens when it happens. :manny:

True, I guess getting the ball rolling was luck, but muphukas still had to carry it out through the course of a production and do a good, convincing job acting - to draw the audience in.

If they had put up a wack performance those movies don't blow, so in that sense there's a lot preparation involved. There's a lot of wack movies floating around that may have been hits had the right actor anchored it.

So while yes, there's a lot of luck involved, there's also the actor doing a good performance that factors in. Stallone had a lot of flops but he always seemed to have a hit in the chamber whenever Hollywood was ready to write him off. Most actors don't get to lead not even one franchise, Stallone has had two major franchises, so I think it's luck and skill in seeing a vision that most don't. Producers literally had to put up their houses to finance Rocky, because the studio would only put up a small amount.

Stallone was on his way out after dropping flops like Oscar and Stop or My Mom Will Shoot. Cliffhanger and Demolition Man saved his career.

The Rock could give less than a phuk about the quality of his roles because he came in more as a live entertainer than an actor. Stallone, Bruce Willis, and even Arnold wanted to be taken serious as actors, albeit in action movies.
