Once he got going tho they won 3 straight
I don't know why ya'll nikkas are acting like Steph is invincible as if he wasn't MIA for huge chucks of the OKC series.
OP your strategy would have been a disaster...
OP your strategy would have been a disaster...
Also since you think my OP would be a disaster what would you do? What are your thoughts on how he should be defended?
Exactly what the thunder did. Switched on screens and got physical with him. When Russell was on him, he wasn't looking like the unanimous MVP. The issues were when those switches resulted in Kanter/Adams being on him at the perimeter. I think its proven that Steph and Klay have no problem shooting over centers. But that's unavoidable when you switch against a team that runs as many ball screens as GSW. If you attempt to switch after the fact, you're letting someone in via the backdoor (see SA vs MIA).
Basically OKC guarded Steph just fine. Bad defense on Curry was not the reason why they lost at all.
Even with Curry AND Klay breaking 3-point playoff records in the same game, Thunder were still within 5 with a little over a couple of minutes to go
Thunder played Curry great![]()
thank you. they still dont get it.
what okc did was working for enough time to beat them. thats all you need to do. slow them down long enough to get a lead. okc did that multiple times. okc killed themselves. not the warriors. remember the game when klay couldnt miss at the end? but okc had such a large lead and kept playing smart that the warriors even when hot never won the game. thats how you have to play them.
the reason you can't put westbrook on him all game long(which is a tell tell sign that non of these new era stars are on par with kobe, jordan, etc. since they never are forced to shut down or make the other best offensive perimeter player shoot a bad fg%/make him to prone. ) curry tried guarding westbrook and that didnt work. it burned him out. same was true with west guardin curry.
so that wont work and can't work for any long stretches.
so now what? the OP' angle will not work on these guys because you have klay on the other wing. if you push up to close before the catch. back door. you trap curry. he gives it to the open man. if the open man is draymond. he will go right to the rack or hit a wide open 3(he wont miss too many if he's WIDE open. he wasnt wide open in this series and guys were on him a lot. which bothered his overall point forward game plan. thats how you defeat the warriors. slow down draymond and the offense itself slows down. i told yall this. draymond is the real point guard of the team, not steph, not clay. its draymond. and he's the most likely to be slowed out of the 3 star players dray, and the two marksmen(klay/steph). trying to slow both steph and klay in the same game is silly at best. dont waste your time. concentrate on draymond green. and the entire offense will slow down.
The Heat weren't good defensively that year though...And what happened to those Heatles last we saw them?
