the '80s is the best decade for production.

production was nice as fukk in the 90's....but like OP said from a production stand point the early 2000's shyt on the production from the 90's....

I wouldn't say it "shyts on" but it is an argument worth entertaining. Also a lot of the producers op named got their start in the 90s. Interesting topic nonetheless

That's an interesting opinion. Care to expound or provide examples?

most of what people like about today's beats was done better & harder in the '80s.

just not as bouncy.

also most of the beats getting propped up in here from the current scene, lack that raw feel & energy. its hard to explain. you gotta feel it for yourself. in most cases, you had to kinda be there to get it.

Tech globalization surged in 2000's so unlike the 90's it wasn't just the cream rising to the top, but if you skim the bullshyt they're neck and neck imo

For producers, it was easier for cream to rise to the top since production equipment/software wasn't as available and there wasn't soundcloud/yt

It all depends on what you prefer. Me personally, I think 90s era production was better because I'm more of a fan of the rugged/lo-fi sound that was prevalent in the early-mid 90s. Not that the 2000s didn't have some bangers, but I'm just a bigger fan of the 90s sound.
