Early Misconception:
In the early seasons of Smallville, Clark discovers a message from Jor-El within his Kryptonian spaceship, suggesting a destiny of conquest. This, combined with Jor-El's seemingly harsh actions and demands, leads Clark to believe he was sent to rule Earth.

Jor-El's Intentions:
Later in the series, it's revealed that Jor-El's message was misinterpreted. Jor-El's true goal was for Clark to use his powers to protect Earth and guide humanity, not to dominate them. He wanted Clark to be a force for good, leading with strength and wisdom, but not through force.

This is damn near the exact same message from the damn movie:gucci:

You dont see the difference in a man who raised him, versus his father who sent him to earth on a spaceship who he doesnt know. Pretty sure one of those characters would have a little more impact on his character.

Jorel sent his baby to a planet where he knew he would be practically invincible. So regardless of what his little message he left was it was still a crapshoot that his son wouldnt decide to become a evil tyrant:mjlol:

Or perhaps they placed him in a home where they knew he would be raised by good people. Who hopefully would raise him not to be an evil tyrant. Which means yall are CHOOSING to take the message out of context.

Ive been begging for three pages now. All yall need to do is show me where the new message explicitly says anything as bad as "maybe let the kids die". Or says anything remotely telling Clark to do what Omni Man was shown to have done. The reason yall cant is because despite you putting the tag of "evil" on it. Theres nothing explicitly evil about the message.

This isnt a comic book or t.v show, its a movie trilogy:gucci:. We dont have time for all that nonsense yall wanna see. Yall didnt even want the origin story again. Now suddenly yall pretending yall really wanted to see "Kryptonian lore". Maaaan fukk Krypton:mjlol:

Did you not read the post above?

James Gunn has said there was no misinterpretation with Jor-El’s message:dahell:

And are you now saying Jor-el has no basis on Superman’s characterization on being a force for good”?:dahell:

Went to see this in 3D yesterday. On the 2nd viewing it's one of those movies that actually better the 2nd time when your know what to expect. The 3D was pretty solid too.

I think the movie had another level it could get to but I don't think Gunn wanted to take that much of risk with the first movie. We'll see where it goes from here because the cast is pretty good.

I dont know what kind of person would give an absentee father credit for Supermans characterization when the father who raised him is right there.

And I think Gunn is speaking on the fact its not a fake message. Doesnt meant it couldnt have been misinterpreted.

Im not gon like, this annoyed me

"I know these tech guys, if they say its real its real"

nikka what :heh:

Now this was thw bullshyt.

Ill assume he meant if they validated it to make sure it hadnt been altered, they would be good enough to spot a forgery from Lex.

But it came off as if he just thinks "tech guys" wouldnt lie about the content of the message:mjlol:

Yet, he's deciding to sh!t on Superman's bio parents AND the Legion of Superheroes (a big part of Superman's lore).

Taking the wrong inspirations :francis:
How did he shyt on the Legion?

As for the Son of Krypton stuff.... it never mattered.

It's only ever been a final push, given he almost always finds the fortress as a grown man.

Who he was raised to be has always been his bedrock, ie Martha and Jonathan Kent.

Answer the question please.

Are you now saying Jor-el has no basis on Superman’s characterization on being a force for “good” lore wise?

And what do you mean the message couldn’t have been misinterpreted? James Gunn has said in the interview there was nothing to misinterpret and that Jor-El MEANT that shyt in the messsge:dahell:

After taking time to think on it, i actually think James Gunn did a decent job here, The humor wasn't too overdone like with the Guardians.
The major flaw with this movie though, was the same flaw most people had with Iron Man 2. Movie doesn't stand on its own. Feels like it was designed to tease future projects instead. Wasn't a superman movie. instead it was a DC movie superman ass the lead. this was designed to make you wanna watch, Supergirl, justice league, MR Terrific and whatever else. (apparently Jimmy Olsen is getting his own spinoff from this too.)

If you complained that black panther took a backseat to the rest of the cast in his first movie. You should feel the same way about this one. Superman got his ass beat for 90% of the movie, was even captured and sidelined for a good 20 minutes of the film so another character could get his moment to shine. James Gunn claimed in interviews that he didn't need to see another origin story for superman. I understand that was a statement made purely for financial reasons now. He didn't want to do that because he wanted to be able to tease for future dc projects. I would be interested to see the next one focus more on superman next time. Because outside of that everything else worked for me.

How did he shyt on the Legion?
He said that he doesn't really like teleportation and time travel related stuff when asked about if he would incorporate the Legion of Superheroes into the DCU.

Which is ironic considering that there's teleportation in the Superman movie (apparently that "doesn't count" according to Gunn lol) and he greenlit a Booster Gold show (a character that uses time travel). So why draw the line at the Legion? Odd.

I've talking about it enough in this thread already but I disagree with the statement that Superman's Kryptonian background "never mattered".

He seems to be picking and choosing what he likes about the source material, rather than trying to stick to it,
Which isn't nessarily a bad thing. But it has the risk of you writing yourself into corner and having to retcon yourself out.
They did this with the witcher netflix series. Didn't really give af about Yennifer's relationship history with Ciri. and Had her do unforgivable stuff to her. Only to need them to have a mother daughter type bond in the third season in order to progress the plot for the major book events to make sense. So they in turn had to ignore all the bad blood they established and have quickly form a bond out of nowhere despite them having every reason to hate each other, really made the whole thing weird in the end.

Down the line if they need to revisit his kryptonian roots, and you find out his parents were actually good people all along, you will know he fukked up and decided to retcon this choice.
