I disagree quite a bit. We have 1 maybe 2 pieces on the OL but we need to invest heavily into it. If Lamar is going to be our QB we can't keep trying to do the bare minimum. His responses sound like someone who doesn't really have a plan. I hope I'm wrong.
So you agree we have pieces on OL(Linderbaum, Rosengarten, and Jones).

His statement is credible. Not sure what he can actual say that he hasn't which indicates a plan. He already mentioned building through the draft, trades, free agency, and coaching changes. I’m not sure what level of detail you want him to disclose in that setting. I’m sure if it’s private discussion the level of detail would be insane and reflective of a billion dollar organization. We’re gradually getting the weak links outta here. Give the guys a chance

I know what you meant but you can't just do what Houston does without their talent. You can't just rush 4 if your 4 can't get consistent pressure. You're putting the cart before the horse.

There aren't a bunch of Crosby's out there. That's an extremely rare 1/1000 pick. Most of the league leaders in sacks were taken in rounds 1-2 but there's way more busts than pro bowlers. You gotta get a good DC who can coach guys up and manufacture pressure. Hopefully you find a star in the draft but KC took two players to help the pass rush and they had like 2 sacks combined. It ain't easy.
To develop an elite pass-rusher.
Or trade for one.
The Ravens made the right decision in extending Madubike. It’s just terrible luck.

Despite the obstacles we didn’t make it any easier because of Harbaugh and Orr. Them 2 directly made decisions that made our pass rush worst.

Step 1, awareness and public acknowledgement of the problem. Harbaugh would gaslight us with some BS.
Step 2, getting the goofy coaches outta here.
Step 3 and so forth…we’ll see

So far we passed steps 1 and 2

I believe they covered:
-Madubike's injury/contract situation
-Lamar's extension
-Roster construction (building through the draft vs acquiring free agents)
-Pros and Cons of acquiring via trade
-Nearly trading for a prominent pass-rusher

Which other questions should the media have asked DeCosta?
In my opinion, it's always going to come down to Harbaugh having too much roster control of the game-day inactives.
I feel like they just put all the blame on Harbaugh when DeCosta is just as much to blame

I would’ve liked if someone questioned him about last in money spent on oline and WR spent since taking over and why he hasn’t added any interior dlineman since Travis Jones was drafted 4years ago

why did he give Andrew’s an extension when its obvious he’s washed and why did he extend 36 yea old John Jenkins

they also never asked about the power dynamic

who really had the final say between Harbs and EDC when it came to the draft and free agency(my guess is Harbs since they put all the blame on him but you can at least ask so they can confirm it)

Linderbaum is the only starter I would say is safe and I would like to see what Jones can do but everyone else would be competing for a job. I'm not going to blame all the issues on coaching. Why do you defend this man so much? It's a reason why people question his roster building strategy. He's missed a lot and seems to ignore glaring issues. His statements sound like someone who is going to do the same thing he's been doing. Thankfully it sounds like he's on the hot seat so maybe that will force him to change his ways this offseason.

He should have definitely addressed the bolded especially the contract extensions. Both of those extensions make no sense to me and why I don't have faith in EDC's ability to build a roster.

Those are great questions.
I asked not to challenge you but to drive a much better conversation. This is one of the few Coliseum threads where our comments are detailed, layered, covering 5Ws, X’/O’s, explain our rationale, thought process, etc.

Compared to the other threads where cats are regurgitating surface level takes from FS1/ESPN national media that doesn’t know shyt.

I really appreciate your insights and you following up when we question, ask why/how….

=======
The answer doesn’t necessarily matter more than the journalist actually asking those pertinent questions.
If I was EDC,, I probably answer those questions like.
-Least money spent on OL/WR…We prefer to build through the draft, it takes 2 to trade. When it comes to free agency we prefer free agents on post 2nd (big) contract. Usually vets who low risk/cost with high potential (Chidobe Awuzie, Van Noy, etc). Most teams want to keep their good players transitioning from rookie deal to 2nd contract. Usually when the team doesn’t want to offer or sign a player as they transition to their 2nd contract it indicates a red flag with the player.

It’s obvious but I would prefer if he didn’t announce our meta.

Jeff Zrebek just said on the Ravens Collective we made offers for Quinton Williams and Jeffery Simmons. DeCosta also mentioned during the press conference they tried acquiring a pass rusher during the trade deadline and it was close.

Reviewing the draft history. We can’t Monday Morning QB it. I can rationalize their logic on the picks based on the how the draft board shook out, roster needs. Madubike’s injury really fukked up a lot. He might be our 2nd highest paid player.

Andrews extension is inexcusable. I’m thinking a tentative deal with Likely was done before his injury then rescinded. Now he’s pushing to enter free-agency. He can’t say that publicly lol. I can imagine there so much wild shyt that he has to take it on the chin publicly to maintain a healthy relationship with the player or not lose negotiating-leverage.

The power dynamic question between EDC and Harbs when it comes to final decisions during the draft and free agency. I can see him saying it’s the past and doesn’t serve or in the best interest of the organization today and moving forward. With the next HC, it’ll be a collaborative effort and as the GM I have the final say when it comes to building the strongest roster lol

Rosengarten played well for a rookie towards the 4th quarter of the 2024 season. shyt Faalele played above average/good too during the same period.
DeCosta addressed coaching regression.

Jones tape is extremely promising dude a “piece” with Rosengarten and Linderbaum that’s a solid 3

He showing more respect to Lamar than Jerry does to Dak. Dak doesnt have a say in the HC hire and I remember Jerry saying "we over paid for him" :mjlol:

I don't understand how people are spinning a privilege that less than 1% of active NFL players have.
The national media talk about and shyt on him like an NBA superstar....might as well get NBA superstar privileges in the NFL.

Hypothetically speaking.....
Maybe Mahomes, Allen, and Burrow are the only 3 other players with such privileges.
We know how the Brown family operates smh
Andy Reid ain't going nowhere, will likely determine his successor
McDermott might be on the hot seat, will likely scapegoat Joe Brady

Lamar might be the only active player with such privilege...
