I walked 17,895 steps yesterday. Will probably do close to that or more everyday for the next couple of weeks. I’m in a step challenge so I make sure to walk everywhere. I walked home from work yesterday. That was about 5 miles on top of the other miles I walked in general.

But on average I do a 7,000 - 9,000 just because I like to walk everywhere. When I WFH, it’s near the 7,000 range but when I go into the office it’s jumps to about 9k or above because I walk during my lunch break and that’s usually close to 3 miles.

I stopped keeping track of my steps when my average hit 25k a day. I work in construction so I move around a lot.

I WFH and to hot 7K steps, I have to actively make an effort to go for a 2 mile walk in the evenings. I bet most Americans are walking less than 1000 steps a day.

Walking long distances at medium to high intensity everyday will change your body, it's basically a full body workout at that point.

They make watches for that sort of thing now if you BELIEVE you walk that much. do you count your own steps? If you drive around or sit half the time, you probably walk less than you think.

And honestly, i would argue that its less for the average american.
Agreed.

You can easily hit 5k to 10k steps if you're including dedicated gym time.

Only people getting that amount of steps without actively trying.....either live in NYC, Chicago etc., or have a job like postal delivery. You can't accidentally hit 10k/day otherwise.

I'm at 7,900 mainly from walking my dog at lunch today

I walk to work, during lunch & take a long hike home to round out to 15k steps a day during the week. I get 25k/day on the weekends.

Tip. No cotton socks.
