Exactly. People acting like the West is gonna be some wild 7 game series gauntlet are lying to themselves. The gap between a healthy Warriors team and even a full strength Rockets is a decent gap.

I think in a few years, this era is going to be met with a small asterisk.

We know the best teams in the league are really good; but we really are unsure of exactly how good because of the proliferation of the "tanking" teams.

I think some questions can be asked about whether the inflation of 50 win teams in the East as well as the seemingly high amount of injuries this year can be attributed to the constant gear shifts competitive players have to do when playing a few talking teams and then switching to play 110% against hard fought opponents.

If you race against children and then the next race is the Olympics, there's probably a good chance you may injure yourself.

I'm feeling like the same can be said in the NBA. We probably have so many teams going through the motions that many players aren't becoming accostumed to hard fought games.

Tanking has always been around, its just with every game more widely available and social media, there's more room for people to complain about it and analyze.
