It’s not like fortnite stole gamers away from “core“ games, it’s an entirely new created market of people playing games and spending an ungodly amount of money on gaming. Thats where the major boom in gaming came from, F2P and Mobile gaming.

my mom has never picked up a controller in her life, but she plays candy crush at least once a day

Maybe that's the plan.
I absolutely know that's the plan.

Just like buying up Rare, Activision, Blizzard, making Game pass, not worrying about "console sales" just making the Xbox platform was the plan.

But what is the goal? because all these others haven't really worked out.

I don't think people will be priced out of gaming. I think the industry is going to shoot itself in the foot.

Nintendo is somewhat aware of the direction things are heading in. I think this is why they have such a choke hold on their past titles and are rigorous when it comes to copyright infringement.

The long and short of it is there are 30 years worth of games that stand the test of time. Eventually people are going to start caring less about new releases.
If a Playstation 5 Pro and an Xbox Series S 2GB cost $700 or over and prices no longer go down on consoles that's the likely floor for their next generation iterations. That prices a lot of people out. Games also went up $20 in a single generation.

It's like Jeff Grubb said the console is not growing anymore and Microsoft exist on all platforms now so they have no interest in growing it. Xbox simply exist to exploit the people who refuse to abandon the console gaming model because it's all they know and they aren't comfortable leaving it. They'll likely just keep raising prices to extract as much money as possible from them as they know growth is over.

Sounds like entitlement
It sounds like entitlement to say that the government that was created by the people for the people should serve all of them and create policies that serve them rather than that simply serve the top 1% at the expense of the 99%?

If you say so.

:russ:Gamers are not going to stand on shyt. This is the new status quo. Deal with it, pirate, or get another hobby.
This isn't a gamers thing it's a government policy driving up the cost of living thing. Post COVID this is our way of life now and due to issues related to COVID Trump is back in office making it worse.

Their ideal world is taxes on comsumption not income and taxes on comsumption will drive up the price of everything and shift the burden to the people who make less as more of their income goes to spending.

Houses, cars, education almost everything continues to climb in price to the point people are continuously priced out of markets. Gaming is no exception. Nothing is done and the public puts people into power that propagate it so again let them have what they vote for until their suffering becomes unbearable and they demand change. One day they'll realize they voted for this.

This gaming industry crashing sooner than expected.

They pushing everyone to PC

It crashed years ago people just haven’t realized it.

When we stopped owning our games it was a wrap.

Its actually good for the industry because it will hopefully remove a large percentage of normies from the consumer base that have been driving the decline.

Games will become a niche market again and will cater to a more refined consumer market.

Nah, we’re headed for more shovelware. Major titles going forward are going to have to be guaranteed hits, which will only ensure that production costs on AAA titles are through the roof to justify the price for the end user’s desire for a game “worthy” enough. The idea of “flopping” will carry too much risk

This is incredibly naive….if anything, we will be the ones removed from the market when all the most popular games are F2P Just like the mobile market. The most played and highest grossing games are the ones no one on here talks about

AAA market will be highly diminished and the new thriving indie market relies on the AAA market for market saturation and funding. People that play roblox and Warzone ain’t waiting around for the new Blue Prince type game Either.

You're missing my point.

If someone decides to game from the PS4 backwards, they have a catalogue of games going back 30 years. From an entertainment perspective, they have enough content.

Development isn't the same in the sense that games are no longer providing a unique experience.

Even when you look at a game that was enjoyed in Astrobot. Yeah, it is a good game, but how much would someone suffer downloading Crash Bandicoot 3 for free?

You’re both probably right.

All I know for certain is the game industry has been dead for some time now.
