I think it’s pretty clear Wall was won of those coast on his talent type. We would see his body every off season before the season started and how bloated and out of shape he was. Jump shot was never on shyt and for as much as he attacked the basket his finishing ability was suspect too.
At this point, it’s not controversial.
For all of the shyt I give to Brad Beal, I never heard anyone question his professionalism. Wall got questioned in DC and Houston.
The fact he never really improved his jumper minus that 15 game stretch has always bothered me.
WOW!
Given the organization (Ted specifically) feelings about Wall, I'd say Sato's stance on Wall would be endearing to management. Fan boys STILL give the injury excuse still.
For me, when Wall got hurt during the 2017-18 season after the Wizards had gotten off to a good start, he missed 40 games. Sato started vast majority of them and the team kept up their spot in that 4th-5th seed till the last two weeks of the season when they collapsed to the 8th seed. Wall came back and lost a good amount of weight to help his legs...
Then what happens when training camp opens for 2018-19? Wall shows up damn near 230 pounds

I was pissed by how he just refused to take care of himself...
And then working on his game... playing basketball all summer isn't working on your game..
And Kevin Broom from Bullets Forever and #SoWizards podcast said if he was the GM, back in 2010, he'd have put Wall in leadership courses and had way more oversight into how he trained than the organization had done. This was one of the detriments of keeping Grunfeld instead of transforming the front office when Ted bought the team. The whole approach and landscape of the team could have gotten that fresh start, fresh new perspective, after Gil's guns, and winning the lottery.
