This thread is a perfect reason why Kobe HAD to "run Shaq out of town." Had he not, these clowns would have ran with the narrative that Kobe couldnt win without Shaq

Any Laker fan that is honest with themselves, will tell you that Shaq was the best player on the team. But to pretend that Kobe was a "sidekick" IS diminishing his impact. Who got the ball at the end of the game? You telling me if the Bulls down two, they're going to Scottie over Michael? Of course not. Yet the Lakers were going to Kobe over Shaq. So to pretend that he was a "sidekick" is being disingenuous. It was 1A and1B which hardly constitutes a "sidekick" role for the 1B.

YUP...BUT KOBE WAS ALREADY A BETTER ALL AROUND PLAYER BY 2001. SHAQ SIMPLY HAD SENIORITY. BUT EVEN SHAQ DECLARED KOBE "THE BEST PLAYER ON THE PLANET" DURIN THE 2001 PLAYOFFS. SHAQ NOT THE TYPE TO GO OUT HIS WAY TO SAY THAT EITHER.

ARE U NOT PAYIN ATTENTION, U FUCCIN DUMBSHIIT? U KEEP IGNORING THE MAIN POINT....THE ISSUE WAS DEFENSE, WHERE SHAQ WAS GETTING SHIITED ON IN PICK-AND-ROLL SITUATIONS EVERY TIME DOWN. IT WAS NOT AN OFFENSIVE SERIES, SHAQ'S 26 PPG WASNT PUNKIN SHIIT, SON. KEEP UP.
THE ISSUE WAS DEFENSIVE, you dumb son of a bytch...had you played it through Shaq and let him do what he was DOING ALL SEASON long, they would not have lost...no matter how much Kobe couldn't score.

You blaming Shaq for Kobe not hitting SHOTS? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...you nyggas ARE BUCK fukkING WILD:laugh:
Game 1. Kobe was 10-27 rest of the 6-30. Not including Shaq.
Game 3. L.A. got blown out. Kobe only attempted 13 shots. Shaq had a anemic 14 & 8 in 38 minutes.
Game 4. Shaq beasted 36 & 20 but he also left 7 points at the line. Kobe 8-25 rest of the team 9-32. Game was tied start of 4th. Kobe only took 6 shots and made 3
Game 5. Shaq 20 & 8. left 10 points at the charity stripe. Ben Wallace was allowed to grab 10 offensive rebounds. Unacceptable. Mailman or no Mailman

Basically Shaq played 1 good game and Kobe played 1 good game. ironically the good game Kobe played resulted in a Lakers win............

Nah...you can't say it was 1b during the championship years...he was used as a closer but it was really a Horry three that saved their asses when it counted and kept history in their favor.

The fact he was used as a closer shows it was 1b. Can you tell me another team (other than the Pistons) were the best player didnt get the ball at the end of the game?

Horry saving their asses? He hit a big shot. Props to the boy. But we dont say Paxson saved MJ do we? Or Kerr? Thats what great role players do. Come thru when you need them.

I disagree breh. Well, he was a better all around player as in great on offense and defense while Shaq was great on offense and inconsistent on defense. If thats what you mean, I agree. If you mean Kobe was better? Absolutely not.

Paxson didn't save Jordan because Jordan hit the clutch shots every fukking time and they weren't in danger like the Lakers were that first situation...they had to come back 20 down against the Trailblazers in t he 4th just to get that first title.

Yeah but Kobe doesn't have a good game unless Shaq is drawing attention so that never adds up and never will add up...that's why he to find a Gasol to get to his next level because he wasn't 2006 BEAST like D Wade:laugh:

Valid point..but that was a combo of Kobe being great/dynamic and Phil wanting to avoid putting Shaq on the free throw line near the end..not a slight to Shaq really. If teams are going to crowd the paint that 1) raises the probability shaq gets hacked AND 2) lessens the probability of a rebound and put-back. A lot of teams with great big men still look for something around the perimeter or mid-range so they have a chance with a couple seconds for a board/put-back or tip out. I think Shaq tipped it back out to Horry on that 3 against the Kings, for instance (could be wrong)...and the Spurs have gone to Manu/Parker at times etc.

In general (not saying you), I dont really understand the venom of Kobe fans thrown at Shaq and the other way around. If I had that combo on my team, Id be grateful as fukk for that time period and would probably feel a type of way about the team being broken up but wouldnt really blame one more than the other regardless. It was what it was..all good things come to an end. :manny:

You telling me Horry brought them back during that game?:comeon:

Horry and Paxson did what they were brought there to do. Shoot and make open shots. Props to them for it. But you cant say one saved the team for hitting an open shot while the other one hit an open shot but somehow didnt save them.

Not that damn game...you know what the fukk talking about. The last minute 3 that SAVED their asses and won that game. The Blazer game was a big comeback game where Shaq hit that Alley DUNK and was running up the court going buck wild.

Also, Shaq has gassed up every great perimeter player he has played with publicly. Again, not a slight to Kobe, but look at his quotes about Wade/Penny etc over time. If the assumption is that his ego was too high (reasonable POV)..and combine that with his quotes about his own game..you can't really take Shaq's quotes about his star teammates as a true concession that they were better or more important than him.
