Never leave your main gig until your side hustle has shown it has legs. Meaning:

Grind 9 - 5 and stack as much as you can whilst spending 5 - 12 working on your side soon to be main gig. Once it gets to a point where its showing consistent returns and you've got a years living expenses saved then make that change but the moment you do that you need to then make your new passion your 9 - 5 whilst spending 5 - 12 creating two more income streams.

Reason being is this:

Security. Its why people take shytty jobs in the first place and when you're self employed its all on you - win or lose - so you have to factor every eventuality and most problems can be offset via having enough cashflow which is why diversification is so important.

Things you've got consider:

Is there a demand for your service that outstrips the supply?
Why would people pay you instead of someone else?
Can you sell your self/your service?
Do you have the right connects?
Do you have the right attitude/temperament to be self employed?

Not everyone is made to be a boss, word to Dame, some people do best working for Another Man. Think about it.

There are more opportunities than ever in this world but there are also more hungry people in this world than ever.

Consider retooling, with some certs in IT or cybersecurity.

Then you can contract your services out as a consultant.

I know me personally, that 9 to 5 aint it.

Because its not really a 9 to 5, its really a 6 to 7pm. And by the time I get home im lifeless. That aint it.
Busy with security+ as I type this. You recommend anything after that without practical cyber security experience?

You contract currently ? How does that work when you just got the cert?

The 9-5 life ain’t for me either, not only the job itself, but I’m truly a night owl and have problems waking up early.

I’ve been feeling the same way taking business classes now. Like they want us to be top employee instead of the big man.

It makes me smile when I hear black people thinking like this.

Working for yourself is scary. But working for someone else is a shaky concept. Things can change.

To the OP, follow your heart. But have money saved up. You’re in the best position to do this. No kids, not married, no baggage. God bless.

Breh it's YouTubers and Twitch Streamers making millions playing video games. And it's us millennials doing this:mindblown::mindblown:

I had this exact scenario while working with a former coli poster. That day I saved 30 jobs, nobody was willing to speak in the meeting, they flew in an exec from the U.S. to lay us off. But they were trying to can us with 2 weeks pay over some trumped up shyt and I exposed them with e-mails (they had been holding back work from us then accusing us of under performing). Local bosses were mad as hell but I had receipts :umad: so they made us commit to terms to keep our jobs since they couldn't fire us. The former coli poster was the only clown that bulked and took the 2 week pay but then again his name was @SirBiatch. A tall dummy ass kissing incompetent clown :deadmanny: . Not one other person spoke up for themselves and not one person thanked me. They were all bout to take that shyt laying down and we kept our jobs. Until the recession :merchant:
This post got me :dead:, you nikkas know each other and beefing. Damn that c00n still banned

like 6 years ago I had it happened to me, 40 people in my department 20 were called to one room and said they were kept and 20 to the other which i was apart of and we were told our jobs are being eliminated. Could either take a package 5 weeks for every 1 year or apply for other openings in the organization.

I applied for another job and got it but left like 8 months later wish i took the package.

But yeah dudes were in that room with me who were there for 30 years. I remember one dude in there with me never took a sick day for like 20 years, none of that ish matters you are just a number

same thing happened at my old job on my day off. Ppl was calling me like "we got laid off" i called my manager and he said "nah u cool". I stayed thru like 2 more layoffs then found another job with a much more stable company but i liked my old job A LOT.
