how's Utah doing though? You mean the same team that had to give up KAT for salary cap reasons and constantly dealing with questions as to whether they can afford to keep that core together?
The new CBA makes it cost prohibitive to keep teams together and that you can't afford to pay everyday. Orlando is going to end up in that same boat these next couple of years especially when that Paolo max kicks in after next season.
There is no 5 year core anymore under this new CBA![]()

They’re shytty at player development and the picks that they thought were going to be valuable, haven’t worked out in their favor.how's Utah doing though?
Look, teams aren't gonna stay together forever and picks will be needed to replenish talent.
Orlando a) ain't there yet and b) are in a situation where drafting talent in the short term isn't gonna help them.
The trading of draft picks has almost become like the max deal. The most a team can give assuming they didn't acquire someone else's draft picks is 4 picks, 3 swaps, right? Well, free agency is a myth at this point and when anyone negotiates, they get max deals, like Bane. Unless you're OKC (who honestly has to do something similar because they have 2 firsts for guys who may never play), you only have but so much capital and only but so many options, so when any solid to good player comes around, you gotta push your chips in because that's damn near the going rate for talent. It benefits the teams who know how to replenish.
Now, for this to work for Orlando, next year they gotta aim at least for the ECF and a top 3-4 seed (which until their guys got hurt looked realistic NOW). They wanna do for Paolo what was done for Ant: get him in big playoff games and see how he does. Get him much needed experience and then you can really see how the parts work and if you're that far in, the #24 pick in the 2027 draft isn't gonna be as missed.
They’re going to be a decent team next yearThat 2026 first round pick from Phoenix might be one of most valuable picks in the league heading into next season
And just like that Orlando enters 2nd apron territory. I don’t understand their thought process.
That’s what happens when you coaching staff ahve no creativity on offense. You start to pay and overpay for buckets. This is why I worry about Houston with Ime and his staff. The magic was the only team in the league I felt had a worse offense system than Houston. I literally used ti lint magic game likeI just don’t see how Bane is worth that haul for that team
