We'll see how this plays out but I don't expect Yvette or Tone to alter their stances much (especially on economic issues).

Just getting their message out to a wider audience.

The TD Jakes, Roland Martin's. Al Sharpton's of the world have access to those audiences. This is a chance to cut into that market.

:mjlol:WHY NOT?

SHE USED TO BE ANTI LINEAGE
NOW SHES KING "ADOS"...

SHE USED TO BACK BERNIE SANDERS IDEA
OF REPARATIONS
IN THE FORM OF COMMUNITY INVESTMENTS
NOW SHES KING "CUT THAT CHECK"...

SHES SHOWN THE ABILITY TO DO
A COMPLETE 180 AT THE DROP OF A HAT.

NOW SHES GONE BACK TO TWEETING BERNIE SANDERS.

There are a bunch of potential angles. One of them is that they want some of that windfall. If any checks are handed out I hope black folks pay off debts and invest smartly, please don't give any of it to a church. There will be a ton of grifters and swindlers looking to take advantage of black folk if reparations ever come to fruition.

Al Sharpton works for NBC, Roland Martin is not credible, TD Jakes is a charitable organization which means he is linked in with government funding. Do you really not see the conflicts in relying on people with connections to shake up said connections and risk their alliances with the current establishment, in order to back the movement?

Wider audience in reference to?
That was the point of having more independent vocal advocates of the program who already have a following as opposed to tie-ins with the mainstream who cater to the "all-inclusive" agenda with political opposition. Actors v. Activists

I mean the congregations of those churches. I don't think the goal is to have the message of a Black Agenda/Reparations diluted but to spread more awareness of Black America's true wealth position to those congregation members. Adding more voices in a nationwide ADOS movement for Reparations.

I could be wrong but I don't see a sinister conspiracy here but just using those churches as another tool to reach our people.

You do know all that was AFTER talking with Tone and reviewing his and Darrity's work.

I won't fault her for pushing hard for Bernie in 2016. If you care about more economic equality and systematic changes then Sanders was clearly the superior choice to HRC at that time.

Yvette criticized black folks (especially the gate keeper crowd and black political insiders) for dismissing Sanders and blindly supporting HRC (turns out it wasn't blind support many depended on HRC and the Democratic establishment for biscuits and you know the pro corporate DNC hates Sanders).

So people can't change their opinion on a topic after being exposed to more information?

As a longtime listener of the show, I'm not at all shocked by this alliance. They were already dealing with Simmons College dude. A lot of our elders still don't believe shyt unless the preacher man cosigns, so if you tryna get at them, it's either church or the cbc. :francis:

Yvette has said many times, you gotta know how to pivot in politics, meaning, have allies but drop they ass the minute they start acting up. If these nikkas act up, they will be dropped. It's not complicated. Alliances shift and new ones get made everyday. 'We have no permanent friends or enemies, just permanent interests.'

Dont trust it

Less we forget the past:

"The head of the National Baptist Convention, with 8.5 million members, said his group “adamantly refuses to support, endorse or participate” in the Million Man March on religious grounds.

“Although we all agree that the African American community faces severe challenges, problems and attacks, Christians and Muslims have extremely different ideas about the solution to this dilemma,” said the Rev. Henry J. Lyons, president of the denomination.

“Since Muslims do not believe that Jesus Christ is the answer for all of society’s problems, marching with them would be both hypocritical and in violation of the word of God,” Lyons said."

'Million Man' Plan Divides Churches : Some African Americans View March as Effort to Legitimize Farrakhan

For those who dont remember back then the bigger black church orgs were staunchly against the MMM, them AME, Tom Joyner and a few others had a str8 smear campaign back then. Sum of these fools even went to the extent of holding they own march. Immediately afterwards they started getting kickbacks from the Gov. These mfers are bought and paid for

Great news.

Haters and heathens in here tight already
A difference of opinion does not equal hate or being a heathen. That's a real mature way of thinking :comeon:
Great minds don't always have to share the same mindset; it's called an exchange of ideas and opinions. Some are agreeable, others are not.
All that extreme either/or, insults and my way or the highway type shyt is how the infighting begins which gives the real enemies a chance to exploit.

Vote democrat and go to church. Back at square one.:francis:

Exactly! They have been making some really suspect moves.

Churches are kept in check by the US Gov't as they are always under threat of losing their tax exemption. The Black church no longer preaches unity, it's a vehicle to lull African-Americans to sleep through prayer and while they are in their slumber the Preacher steals their wallet. This is not a win, it's more of the same.

i gotta see how this plays out hopefully the church can get involved and not be constrained by that faith based initiative shyt

Vote democrat and go to church. Back at square one.:francis:

This. This right here. A "non-leader" predicted this. Then in comes the "intersectionality" angle. Full circle.

On the surface I think getting this endorsement is a good move but I think these are valid concerns. I think if we can all remember that we want the same goals it’s easier to respectfully disagree about how we want to go about reaching that destination. Mfers gotta put that “Team Tariq” vs. “Team Yvette” shyt aside because every thread is gonna get sidetracked if that’s the case.
