When I read "big haul in return" I was expecting The Martian to be one of the players...
Guess they just going with the literal "big haul" 4 players for Weathers feels a bit much even if they aren't like top of the farm prospects.
Yankees scraped up whatever they had on the floor and gave it to the Marlins.
I got no dog in this one. But, I was like who are these nikkas? And I still think they gave up too much for Weathers.
He was a top 10 prospect when he was in the Padres system. But, I didn't like the comps they had for him. So I've not been overly impressed with his actual performance.
I don’t think Ryan Weathers is likely to reach his ceiling with the Yankees.
Realistically I think he’s a bullpen guy. He comes in, throws his slider and you hope it doesn’t hang.
That’s not how I expect the Yankees use him early on but I think that’s where he ends up in his career.
As for whether the Yankees gave up too much for him: who knows? Yankees prospects have been overrated for years. But then again the Marlins have always been good at developing talent.

Not exactly right away but they have quite a few options
If Tucker is not in love with moving to Canada, then the Mets supposed offer of 3/~150-4/~200 gotta be very tempting. I don't think i like it as much from the Mets side if there's an opt out after year 1 but having opt outs after the 2nd and 3rd years should do the trick especially at this AAV.

Maybe they'll give him the Soto opt out after 1 year. If he chooses to exercise the opt out they pay x account extra to override it
I don't know how much Tucker would be interested in that or the Mets. That luxury tax hit gets harder the higher you go and Tucker is only really interested in a short term because it seems like the only team in the market willing to go long term is Toronto. He still wants that deal that takes him to the end of his career.
