and after that.. if I ain't satisfied yet?
I hit em' with the butt of my nina till he die, now that's a asinine death (ass of nine)
Mt first battle? 3-0... Looks like I been handed a rerun
You can't handle the beats
I hope you ain't plannin' to see none
You think I shop at Sam's, got big cans
... a whole family can eat from

The white boy Stricc apparently got more actual real shyt to say than most battle rappers in general but didn't seem to generate a whole lot of buzz.. His first round in that battle was pretty damn good. His real talk actually had me with the :lupe:.. homeboy said he did 8 years for aggravated assault, pops/brother caught separate cases etc..

Come on breh, really? Are there that many dudes still watching smack battles on DVD. This sh1t revolves around the internet. It just does

That has nothing to do with what I said bro lol. You go to battle events right? The majority of people who go might be online but they're not that vocal about battle rap online, at least not on here or OTBVA or the other rap battle boards. They don't post on messageboards or facebook groups. Basing who's popular in real life and online are vastly different. In terms of "who's popular enough to headline a show" Especially because the majority of revenue is generated by ticket sales not Youtube views. If the internet told it Chilla Jones and Bigg K would be selling out Webster Hall. Online people would have you think Daylyt is more popular than T-Rex. Furthest from the truth.

Me and BDot had a convo about that. I gave him the win by far, especially with a powerful third, but I did tell him, that white boy was peeping game on BDot. The actual battle was real dope. Bdot's third was just that damn good to go viral.

I feel what you're saying.

It's the internet era though. fans outside of internet... dudes on the block all day and arguing in barber shops are the exception, not the norm. For every cat that fukks with Rex in harlem there's twenty on youtube that think he's outdated and sucks. I was at NOME 5, majority of cats I was talking to in the crowd seemed like they fell into the latter group, not OGs running around harlem. I'm not convinced Rex is selling tickets, I'm just not

It kinda reminds me of pro wrestling. Fifteen/ twenty years ago you used to have the marks and smart marks. The marks were the ones who really weren't on the internet much and followed the storyline, some even thought it was real. The smart marks were online reading the dirt sheets, spoilers and behind the scenes stuff. Now EVERY wrestling fan is a smart mark. Everybody is on the internet. I don't think the dynamic in battle rap is terribly different.

If you watch T-Top first round against Rex, Top even says the fans told him he was gonna wash Rex. Talks about Rex using mixtape verses, outdated style etc. It's just common knowledge at this point. Lets not forget all the RIP Rex memes going around after Clips killed him.

The 10-12 people that Rex brings with him that get in for free generate more revenue for Smack by buying drinks at the bar than the 500 people who watch youtube & talk about battle rap on the internet saying "Rex sucks". You really think those people making memes are going to events? lol

How many battle rap event threads have you read where 10 or more people participating in the thread attended the event?

This! Exactly. Obviously there's way more battle rap fans online than at the events but the battle rap fans that go to the events are the ones that drive the culture because they're the ones that generate revenue.

Rex is still a big name and yes he does have clout. I don't believe he's inexpensive at all, he sells tickets. He's the face of Dot Mob as we now know it, realistically Mook isn't communicating with Tay Roc, Real Deal, Daylyt, Dot, Chayna Ashley, K-Shine etc on a semi regular basis. A lot of people in Dot Mob are big factors in the battle rap game. No one wants to believe that Rex has a hand in their successes, but these people will all tell you from their own mouths in their interviews.

If you have anything concrete that would lead you to believe Rex isn't a big name, I'd like to hear it. If you take things off of a battle rap stage, damn near all the big names in battle rap except for Hollow consistently express that they have a lot of respect for Rex. Internet message boards have never been a good indicator of his popularity. His style is somewhat outdated to a lot of internet heavy battle rap fans, and it's been that way since Smack URL started. I live in Harlem, the guys that Rex rolls with from 112th play the block all day. Not saying they are super money getters, some of them could just be on some lazy derelict shyt. But they are the types that will be in the barbershop arguing over some rap shyt, not on Youtube or a forum.

Has anyone else besides Rex done Summer Madness ALL 5 YEARS?
Rex got Shine and Roc on a lot of cards on the low. He doesn't battle unless you book one of his brothers.

Rex is ass and been ass since TS. Nikka mails in battles and gives us mixtape verses mixed with shyt performances. He might be popular in Harlem and bring in revenue for Smack but i couldnt care less about that. Its obvious that Smack likes doing business with Rex and thats only reason he gets booked. The Rex appreciation on last page is just to much considering how awfull he has been. Ignore fact he been damn ass and big him up for generating money for Smack brehs.

lol at "Rex appreciation" it's all facts.

What business doesn't cater to their paying customers? What would be the point of having a business if you aren't doing that?

What exactly are you upset about in the first place? You could skip Rex battles, & this discussion as a whole and no one would have an issue with it. But there are plenty of people who do appreciate what Rex does.

Do you want to believe the youtube views that we generate are more important than the people who buy tickets to attend the events?

I didn't see anyone in here pleading for Smack to book Rex again, we were just talking about practical business sense.

Breh i know since ur from Harlem u feel obligated to jump to his defense. And i respect that. But in what world is Rex in popular demand the last year? What has he done that inspired people to come out and buy a ticket specially for Rex? Rex gets booked because he does good business with Smack (ex. Bringing a 12k battle for free). Outside of harlem/ny i dont believe he is as popular as you make him out to be on the internet or real life.

I was always of the mindset that Rex's last two stage appearances were largely due to him bringing Smack a prepackaged battle with all the buildup and fukkery done. I'd be interested to see what kind of cards he lands on henceforth. I don't deny that him just bringing a handful of Harlem dudes to the venue pays, and I get the feeling that he's not very expensive these days so the return is there. But I also think that if there were better choices, he'd be one of the first bumped off.

I'm not defending him at all. I'm just stating facts and it seems like this bothers you. Has nothing to do with the quality of Rex's performances.

Rex has a 3.6 million view battle where he was in St. Louis battling a dude from St. Louis who has fallen completely off the map. Yung Ill has ZERO battle vids with over a million views besides this one. Rex has at least six or seven, but no, he's not popular outside of Harlem :mjlol:
Remember when Mr. "He's not popular outside of Harlem" went on a worldwide battling tour with Battle America racking up cash & views with nobodies? Remember when he won Total Slaughter? :russ:

You can continue to be upset about this if you want, I'm going to watch Cortez v Cyssero

I fux with you dog, but take that take that take that

:dwillhuh:

I clearly stated in every post that Im referring to his popularity since TS. Im not disputing his legacy at all. If we go by live audience as per your criteria I have heard nothing but crickets and boo's his last battles. You can twist and turn as much as you want and call it facts but the opposite is true.

I dont get upset about opinions breh. Life is upsetting enough to get emotional over battle rap. Miss me with that bs :martin:

On that note imma go check out vaultez myself. :blessed:
