Been looking at the way big name talent emerges (it doesn't) in battlerap, and I'm kind of at loss.

How will the new top dogs really be born? I'm talking like late 2013 to now. It seems like all the "next up" talent aren't really becoming the next big thing. Not saying there haven't been a few successful dudes, but how many dudes who were new to the scene 1-2 years ago are undeniable top talent (like selling mad tickets) now? Am I being impatient? Is it just rare to find a star? Or are the current toptier/vets rooted in place because they were battling before battling was what it is today?
Just to be honest very few guys have that "it" feeling. You have to be at events to get it, but certain guys just have "it."

The few ones that have it came through URL just don't battle there enough in general. Bigg K has it. Danny has it. Top has flashes of it (Sno battle) but needs a slogan or something to make that connection in the big room. Chilla shows flashes but loses battles he's supposed to win. We all know DOT has it but he needs to rap for 3 rounds.

Hell, DNA JUST got "it" like six months ago.

You need that right mix of stage presence, bars, believability, and connection with the crowd to make it big in battling now.

I ask the same nikkas that say Chris Unbias deserves to get dealt with for exposing the business and attacking the lack of effort

Do you actually love this fukkin artform or do you just want to be entertained

Do you wanna see the culture move forward or naah?

Are you aware that Chris basically tells the lazy ungrateful toptiers they need to sit down and let these new hungry nikkas get in the game so we are not stuck with these same damn cards.
Are you aware that by his blog he is actually making room for the new HUNGRY nikkas because they deserve it MORE.
He stood up for YOU as a fan of the artform and buyer of these $100 tickets and told em YOU deserve more than 1 rounders and recycled verses from nikkas that lost the hunger.

Do you fault the messenger for sayin the nikka doesn't deserve the money that comes with that laziness?

If so, do you then fault Meek for exposing Drake for having a ghostwriter because he tried "to fukk up his money" and your "fantasy" of him being a respected writer..
or do you applaud him for "stayin true to the artform"

I ask these people.
Do you want WWF (Fantasy)
Or UFC (Reality)

I'd spend my money on new hungry nikka like Ave over a Rex, Clips, or any of them lazy toptier nikkas any day of the week

Real > Fake

Real is if you fukk up someones money, you need to be prepared to deal with whatever type of retaliation they bring your way. Meek went at drakes money and got hit with back 2 back.T-Rex recycling and half-assing battles is not some big secret and it wasn't his place to tell people not to book Rex or K-Shine. He didn't book them,he doesn't have a league. If he wants to play the fan card he should have addressed rex and shine personally in that blog instead of going at them in that roundabout way. Im not defending them in any way either. Also he supposedly ran with that anti UDUBB information when he could have easily got it verified. He didn't do that for the fans or the culture, he did that for himself because he had exclusive info that he wanted to get out there. He doesn't hesitate to shade any league that isn't URL because he wants that insider information. Too many bloggers using the fans as excuses to hide behind.

Prompts another question. Y'all who went to shows--who had a whole different vibe live? Good or bad?

@Delicious (you really have to change your name :beli:)

I think it's cuz Brizz and Top are dudes who just show up to rap, theh dont get involved in the extra fukkery needed to add that extra element needed to make for a classic, and the only way to get around need that is to costruct 3 perfect rounds (magic/chilla, jc/chilla, top/sno) and I just dont see them doing that on a big stage

im still not a Chess fan at all bit atleast he's down for the fukkery (even tho we know a punch to the chest would knock his ass out :mjlol:)

Yeah. Chris put UDUBB in a guilty until proven innocent situation. He either jumped the gun, or is just really trying to do UDUBB grimy. He didn't give them an opportunity to clarify the situation before he tried to turn the fans against them. All he had to do was ask first. If you get conflicting info, then you can talk about that.
He doesn't even seem to have his own story straight. Is over half the card one rounders? Is it four? I think Arsonal said two. Either way, dude is being messy.

I dont fukks with any of the bloggers but I salute Chris unbiased for airing mf's out. I dont care about Rex, Clips etc money getting fukked up as long as they continue to spit in fans faces by coming unprepared to battles and recycling shyt. If you dont want your money to get fukked up come with 3 rounds and at least act like you give a shyt. In the end they still getting booked anyway so our and Chris opinions dont mean jack shyt.

I was thinking something similar.. that those dudes just rap. I also noticed that dudes who have a lot of material don't catch on. Like, Top has a lot of bars in his rounds.. probably 1.5x as many as the charismatic dudes. I personally like that, but I can see how it makes it harder to have memorable moments. Three rounds full of B/B+ bars don't stay in memory the way a single round with 3 A+ haymakers does.

AS FOR THE NAME CHANGE

I've been considering it, but I feel like I've built a rep with this one. I don't know how I'd feel posting under a new name and getting hit with the "Who is this nikka?"

Good responses from the legit TBZ posters..

So let me ask this.. Am I the only one who can't even imagine any of the current bubbling dudes (Top, Brizz type) having THAT performance. Like, I have a hard time even imagining those guys putting on undeniable classics on stage. And I like Top, Brizz just fine, but I think there's something missing? Charisma? Command? Is it just their cadence? Or just lack of history?

The wild thing is, when I think objectively (not stan shyt).. the most likely dude I can see having that performance/match/moment that shakes battle rap ...is Chess. Something about his energy and how he pretty much 100% commits makes me think he's the most likely to really blow up. For a while I thought it'd be Brizz, but he seems to have hit a ceiling, or at least entered a zone that doesn't have that "epic" feel.
I can't really see Brizz doing it because of his style. I could see T-Top having the POTENTIAL to do it because his style fits the URL crowd perfectly, only problem is in my personal opinion I simply just don't think he's that nice. It would take a combination of him having his best performance against a top tier and that top tier choking and basically getting 3-0'd. And I'm not sure what top tier would let happen, outside of Clips and he already battled him. I can see Chess having an otherworldly performance though, and of course DOT, but DOT isn't going to be an everlasting guy anyway.

But on some real shyt, you can't really "push" superstars like that. Everybody in here is talking and wondering who will/can be the next superstar instead of just enjoying what we have and being pleasantly surprised when that superstar just appears, a la Steph Curry in the NBA or Floyd Mayweather in boxing. If you looked at those guys near the beginning of their careers you would never think they'd end up being superstars in their sport. And none of the current legends were "on their way" to being legends, they just became legends. The next legend won't be known until he's already legendary status. :yeshrug:
