Let me touch on this Rum Nitty/Roc talk I've been seeing on the last couple of pages.

Tay Roc vs Rum Nitty is a "redemption" style event at best if it where to happen right now. His profile isn't there on the URL to battle a Tay Roc on a SM/Nome. It is not a realistic battle (on nome/sm), so why even talk about it? URL has a clear trend in how they book guys.

The URL should take advantage of the story line though. Have Rum Nitty "chase" him & build up the battle. It could make sense in 2017 on something big like a Nome if every thing falls into place.

The URL doesn't really give a fukk about his KOTD shyt. You remember back in the day when you had a guy with a decent spot in WCW come into the WWF? WWF would make them earn it unless your someone like a Flair.

Daylyt is the only guy that has not battled on the URL that I could actually see landing on a big card. He is the exception. It probably will not happen, but if it did, he is the one who could come in without putting in work on the platform. Diz didn't have to either. Day/Diz are top tier guys. Rum Nitty isn't.

I don't see the URL going out of their way to book a Roc/Nitty even on a lower tier card like a redemption this year, unless a sponsor really wants to see it like the Roc/Brizz battle.
Agree on all points, even though he battled Chess and Ave, i'm sure URL still wants nitty to grind on smaller cards first hence why him venting saying he's not getting the battle he wants on URL yet was moot because other people have to build their profile up as well too.

but eventually the battle sells itself, they both call themselves the gun bar king.

On the other hand, nikkas who follow the culture know the Gun Bar King title is between them.

As a league owner I'd jump on the opportunity to book that battle, RIGHT NOW.
Nitty just came of a stellar performance, Roc is definitely with it so that means no worries about him bein motivated.
I'd book that battle with a clause that he's not allowed to battle anyone or anywhere else in the meantime.
That way you secure the demand cause he can't take a L if he's not battling.
that way he can't fall off lyrically either
He's obviously in his zone right now.
Why wait until he potentially falls off. That doesn't make any sense.
If he got them A-1 punches right now you don't wanna waste them shyts on subpar battles/opponents.
If he beats Roc, his profile will be up there by default and Roc's position would still be safe.
If he loses with a good performance he'll get the Chess treatment.

People just want to see battles & neglect the business side & how the URL operates.

This time last year, Suge was on fire after the Saga battle. Everyone wanted to see Hitman/Suge.

From the URL's point of view, Suge did not have the profile, & Suge is a bigger name than Rum Nitty.

When a potential Nome for Hitman came up, the url was more interested in Tay Roc or K Shine.

Why? Because these are bigger battles. The URL does not cater to some message board fans.

I am not saying Roc is as big as Hitman, but merely using an example.

Rum Nitty does deserve a bigger battle on the url platform.

Roc is the long term goal.

I think he should shift his focus to more realistic goals. You have certain top tier guys out there whose status is not based on exclusivity. They battle all the time.

Here's some names

DNA - The thing about DNA is you need to beat him or make it debatable on the URL. Nyggas careers go down hill when they take a clear loss to DNA on the URL.
Math Hoffa - I don't think Math is really in position to be picky about who he battles.
Aye Verb - He'll battle anyone as long as he gets a check.

Those are the guys I would target if I where looking for a top tier battle in the URL. Everyone else is too picky or would only do the battle on other platforms.

So I see your analysis on this, and I think it's pretty sound.. but roll with me on a different line of thinking:

URL likes to take advantage of these types of "grudge" matches. They try to wait some requisite amount of time to let something build "naturally" and place it on the best card possible. But it's in my opinion, that the thing that has served URL the best is when THEY do the building and marketing well in advance rather than depending on the battlers (especially the underdog) to stay hungry, stay focused, and keep their brand intact. If Nitty is on the shelf for a year, he's obviously going to take a few more battles. Now we're running the risk of him grinding himself down. He might not even get worse, he's just going to become common. The new fanbase will have seen the dude 2-4 times on mid-level cards and that appeal of him being a new nikka with possibly new tricks will be totally gone (Nitty is new to URL, so he's new in this convo). He'll probably have 1-2 B-level performances, and the hype fades because, like you said, he's not top tier. These dudes are VERY easy to forget if they do a couple forgettable battles.

What if they announce Roc/Nitty early, before the Ave footage even drops. Then start feeding the hype machine. Do faceoffs, interviews, highlight reels of each dudes best gun bar, interviews with vets about the situation, whatever. Instigate some shyt. Do that shyt that URL does well and get people polarized rather than letting it happen naturally and taking the risk I outlined above. The Roc/Nitty battle gets announced, THEN nikkas (hopefully) see Nitty spaz the complete fukk out and ride that hype wave. TBZ will be in here telling nikkas to calm down as usual, and that's fine, but we'll get an event with fresh blood and maybe, just maybe, another dude that can populate cards in 2018+. Fans, diehard or not, are too fickle these days. The "perfect" moment is a moving target that can get lost from one bad showing.

I say make Rum sign an exclusive 3 battle contract with the first battle being Tay Rock. That is, IF these rounds for Ave were as special as people are saying they are.
URL handpicks the other two opponents. They can't give him Tay Roc, then let him just go off and do what he wants with his newfound notoriety.
I gotta feeling Rum has to see Chilla at some point too. Fukk that Writers Bloque shyt, one of them has gotta want to be a big dog on the URL stage.
I won't compare this to the Hitman/Suge thing, cause really who knew Hitman wanted 30k?

One of the reasons Rum Nitty is getting this URL opportunity is due to the downfall of his fellow STL WB's member B-Magic.

I can't remember if it was Norbes, Chris Unbias, or Beasley himself, but the URL for a long time was not interested in Rum Nitty, because Beasley felt he was too similar to B-magic.

Here's an interesting question. Do you think Rum Nitty could have skipped the whole "one off" route if he stayed with KOTD?

Could he have become a "top tier" guy if he would have stayed with KOTD & carefully selected his battles? He was getting top tier names, just because they hate preparing for white emcees. KOTD was pushing the hell out of Rum Nitty. Once he started fukking with other leagues, they fell back. They stopped booking him. His momentum became nonexistent.

He was the only one on that platform doing what he was doing & he was going over with the fans.

I'm not saying he would have the Diz/Daylyt popularity, but I believe the URL would have respected him enough to get a Nome battle like Diz did. Hell Daylyt was really just getting started at the time & he was going to get a SM5 battle.

I think his departure from KOTD helped him tweak his style and aggression. Had he stayed, I suspect the gun bar renaissance he had wouldn't have happened. He was doing the street thing on KOTD, but he was still catering to that crowd a bit with extra comedy.

I recall watching the Steams battle and thinking "this is a different Nitty." His growth went hand in hand with the change of scenery. So I guess in a long way, I'm saying I don't think his trajectory on KOTD would have gotten him to top tier.. Unless he won the chain AND had like two classics against other street battlers.

All I will say is your basing things on "what if" as opposed to reality & how the URL runs their operation. The URL is not going to do any of that.

Having said that, I definitely agree that would be the way to go & it would be great for the fans if they did that.

I think a lot of league owners & battlers would benefit if they where on this board to be honest. They would be getting that free coli business advice.

I honestly don't always think URL has a consistent strategy. I agree that I'm playing a speculative hand, but URL has taken the approach I outlined, sort of, with Chilla. The faceoff alone was classic and they rode that wave to the body.
