super facts! i can't believe these nikkas in here today :mjlol: jayblac is still just recapping he's just got a more polished look to it, by these nikkas logic Charles Barkely and Shaq are fukking journalists because they do a pre and post game show

what they do on first take and all those other hot take shows isn't journalism at all :mjlol: it's just entertainment, no different from cutting wrestling promos, it's all super opinionated and meant to get people talking. If you think that is journalism you need to expose yourself to some serious publications and see how that shyt is really done, it isn't close at all.

Chris Unbias Untold truth was the closest thing real journalism being done in battle rap and NO ONE has moved into that lane since he got locked up.

Now J blac isn’t a battle rap journalist:wow:

TBZ is in rare form :wow:

O Reds 2017 is the greatest run in battle rap history. I'm sorry but there nobody in battlerap that can see Red when he's on for 3 rounds. Not Lux. Not Hollow. Not Bdot. Nobody.
:heh:

Red had a very good run but he was choking and complaining throughout it, and he didn't have any true standout moment that we'll talk about five years from now. No "You gon get this work" or "That's how you talk to your son"

Closest Red came to that was "Murder in the 1st". He killed Showoff pretty badly, I'll remember that forever :russ:

YOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I was watching an old Fat Joe video, and saw a cameo from this semi obscure group that I remembered back from the Video Music Box days. I noticed something that tripped me out a little, so I looked up their video on youtube.

Positive rep to the first person who tells me why I posted this here

I hope battle fans don't take this and try to make it a negative thing somehow. There might be some jokes flying though. If this starts popping up in other places, you KNOW where it came from.

One of the rappers in the video is Debo from QOTR. I'll be damned. I remember seeing this group putting out a record but never seen this video. Another one of those obscure 90s groups from the East Coast like Rumplestilskinz and Zhigge.

Yeah, good catch. It bugged me out because I either didn't know, or forgot Debo was Latino. But I did know he was in a rap group back in the day, just didn't know which one. It's crazy how hip hop has gone through so many phases.

Yep. Its funny how so many of those groups from "golden era" were like this though. Upright bass samples. Jazzy feel. Fast raps that mimicked that Das Efx kinda style. Karl Kani and Cross Colors outfits. LMAO. Things were great but not that great. There were a few things that weren't so great back then. But anyways, I didn't know he was latino, too. I thought he was an ex semi-pro boxer.

These dudes are in the water with jeans & tims on.

Debo kinda seems like the "Sheek" of this crew. He might have been boxing too, I don't think it conflicts with the rap thing.
If people think Cortez has it bad NOW, imagine how many jokes were thrown at these guys back then. I could see Debo occasionally having to scrap for their honor.

True but Red never really been a "talk to em" kinda cat so creating stand out moments like those are pretty far fetched for him to come up with. You need great presence, the right angle, and performance to pull those off.
