So whats the general consensus here. If you choke a round away do you automatically lose the whole battle or just that round?

for me, you dont necessarily lose the battle, but points are taken away when judging the totality of the battle. unless its in the case of the opponent who didnt choke having terrible rounds themselves. but at that point i just chalk the battle up to being horrible and would be reluctant to call a winner.

in the case of a nitty vs surf, surf didnt smoke nitty to the point that we dont hold what he did in the 3rd against him. if you forfeit a round it makes me count much against you in winning the battle, especially when the other person brought it. i reward being prepared and coming to fight.

many fans are just fans who select their winners before the battle even takes place. hard for them to be transparent with the match.

I can't even lie, I had Lux winning with amazing material against Cal. And I will say its when I wasn't counting chokes like I do now; around then, I can admit I was still adjusting to the newer era of battle rap though I was keeping up with a lot of it. Technically, minus material, Cal should be the winner by looking at it as far as choking goes. And as a fan, its hypocritical as fukk to do. Hell, we could say the same thing for old battles like PoRich vs. Soul Khan or even...well, I can't think of too many battles where the person who choke a majority has winning.

And it is important to note that years after that battle, there still aren't rules in place to regulate choking like that. No docking pay. No penalties. Nothing. Matter of fact, along with chokes...no shows, no respecting time limits, and other shyt hasn't been regulated. Yet, all this talk about having stars and battle rap being a sport gets thrown around; I'm not feeling it. So...ok, we have "stars" like Surf who excuse shyt like choking and quitting in battles and say they won. This is why I don't like this shyt about wanting stars or superstars in battle rap. Very few of the dudes who work hard in this shyt like that rarely get to that point. Because the fans excuse choking, no shows, and all kinds of other shyt in battle rap that should have been regulated a loooong time ago. I can even stand NBA comparisons because they have rules...where the fukk are the rules in battle rap if thats the case?

and slip ups happen, i dont hold that against anyone too much, if they get they shyt back and finish, we human people mouths are dry, shyt be happening in the background that could throw you off, i respect the guys who have the integrity to finish they shyt and have the respect to apologize for the slip up.

surf just said fukk it and bounced. then walked away like he wearing a crown. then you have his fans just making excuses for him. but will be the same ones complaining about the state of battle rap. whats wrong with battle rap is a guy can throw a whole round away and the fans dont make him feel something for that, whats wrong with battle rap is a guy can battle 3 times in 10 years and some fans will still say he the goat. meanwhile guys who come prepared all the time and have 3 rds are always heavily critiqued and placed below top tier because of name brand.

I still have Lux winning so chill the fukk out for once with what I post and don't go into hyperbole. My point was on a technical aspect. Bar for bar, Lux was killing it. I can't lie on that. Cal got thru his shyt with a few slips. So it was like...who do you go with on this? Technically, chokes are big enough for me to say "hey you lost". I think that might have been one of the biggest battles I was like "damn, Lux won but he choked? hmmmm...."
