Imo battle rap isnt "far behind" anything, it's pretty innovative from an entertainment aspect. It's just that you might be the only one that cares if Queenzflip is the first person on the planet to do a car interview.
Does Jerry Seinfeld have a car interview with Loaded Lux, No? Well then I couldn't care less if he had the idea before Flip.

from strictly an entertainment standpoint:
prior to SM2 battle rap was still lowkey underground breh just in the recent years we startin to see them get interviews on sway n hot97 n shyt, shyt I STILL only know like 3-4 dudes who can have a battle rap discussion IRL

battle rap still playin catch up to the rest of the mainstream industry. even in the BET awards thread (and on twitter) you had people sayin "oh them battle rap dudes"...they couldnt name one of em even tho to us those the nikkas that been there since the early days

from a technical standpoint:

Good debatable battle but Yung ill got that. We all remember yung ills rounds (in a positive way) but i literally cant quote a bar from Rich. Plus Rich havent been seen with a fitted on ever since. I might have to rewatch it but as I recall it ill got that.

No one will give them credit, but Smack had a really good year. RvV, Nome, SM5 all were pretty good even if we didn't get a "You Gon Get This Work."

They're also working on that December card which should be good as well.

RvV and NOME 5 were trash. SM 5 was iiight. Redemption kinda sucked too.

Me ad my friend are planning on making a "Top 30 Haymakers" of the year blog. Were just waiting for the crown 2 card. Won't even bother waiting for the dec url card to make this video since the only battle that will come out before the year is over is whatever battle SMACK decides to drop on Christmas.

Might try to condense it to 20. But theres ALOT of contenders.

Then were trying to figure out if we should use 2v2s. Hitman/Verb(back to back now) and DNA/Shine(straight outta thotland) got to make it then if we do and that takes 2 more slots lol.

And again this isn't counting anything from the crown 2 events which is bound to have some.

But yea just off top of my head Chilla Chess Official Suge Big T DOT Wavy Tay Roc Shine Danja and Myers all competing for a top 5 slot lmao.
