The fukk does that have to do with a guy who is using a talent and on TV, and thus now a member of SAG-AFTRA, applying what he's learned about how the industry works and ways to protect talent to a damn near identical format with no such structure?

Battle rap isn't going to operate like this for too long. If even a few top tiers and a few mid tiers organize and decide they're going to have a lawyer on retainer and share all negotiations URL and others are having with them, a pay scale will be implemented with the quickness. And once they establish that within their small circle, every rapper who is at whatever level making less that someone else at the same level but affiliated with them is going to want in.
The main advantage the leagues have over the battles is these dudes are negotiating blind. The strength of a union is putting all that shyt in the light. Once you have to be transparent, people are getting paid even across the board.
Smack putting NDA's into peoples contracts so others don't ask for more money is probably the catalyst of all this.
I don't care who you are or what you do. If you and those in your profession aren't organized, you are 100% getting played.

Not an argument but just offering another perspective.
Now, it can only work if they get the right person who can help them organize it all. Someone who can play it well behind the scenes. They might be on strike from SMACK URL but best believe...smaller leagues that want to pay them will hit them up. And they MAY take some of those battles while they are boycotting SMACK URL; might be contradictive but lets not act like nikkas won't chase money while this is going on.
With unions and etc., I mean yeah, you need someone who shows strength as a leader. But you need people who can legally and financially make things happen. Hitman, if he is smart enough and thinks it through, could see if there is someone who could help them out.

I know a lot of people in different film unions who are basically children, that doesnt matter at all breh, one of my boys is 36 and JUST opened his first bank account so he could get direct deposits finally
What matters is if the heads of the union have enough legal/business sense to stay on a leagues neck if they dont follow the rules
As wild west as the film industry seems it always trips me out when my OldHead (president of one of the unions in the region) is tellin me how they have these billion dollar company heads sweating during negotiations
It can work in battle rap, the thing with me is battle rap doesnt make enough money for the leagues to really give a fukk, and in general music as a whole hasnt figured out the union thing for artists yet
