Nope theres a third option called..I dont know...the unknown scares people though so they create myths to hang on to like a toddler clings to a security blanket which is how we end up with religion.

No offense b..What you call a foundation may and probably was someone else pulling shyt out of their own ass long ago.. Franky i would prefer to follow my own spiritualty if i thought it was necessary

I know you wont believe me but go study the pre bibilical ancient civilizations i mentioned and you will be shocked how much of their philosophy and mythology got into the bible..which claims to be a unique and divinely inspired book :comeon:

Uh, is there really a third option tho? I mean is there really a third explanation?
We either exist by design or exist by chance.

What other explanation is there?

If you find the words SOS written across the desert sands, youre either going to assume that some one purposely created it or you disregard and dismiss it as a "coincidence" created by the prevailing winds. There is no third option

As far as the religion I chose then I guess thats where the part of faith comes in, is it not? Its obvious I dont have answers to all of the questions but Im oddly ok with that.

But yeah, Im interested in the "philosophy and mythology" of these "pre-biblical" civilizations.
I actually made a post regarding that in this same thread, Im aware, its nothing new to me

There is an inherent danger in assumptions....for example heres a story...a rich vacationer was convinced the hotel maid had stolen a ring from his room.."it was on the dresser" he insisted"and theres only two people who have been in this room,me and her".
She was fired and weeks later the ring turned up in a magpies nest..it turns out these birds are attracted to shiny objects and it flew into the room though the window and picked up his ring, flew out and put it in its nest.

You dont have enough information to know where we came from neither do I .it could be something so outlandish that nobody has thought of yet like the way no one in that story could have imagined a bird stealing jewelery.
Its an uncomfortable feeling to not have an answer but the difference between us is i dont cover that feeling with an assumption.

As far as the religion I chose then I guess thats where the part of faith comes in, is it not? Its obvious I dont have answers to all of the questions but Im oddly ok with that.
No youre not..thats why you reach for faith

How do you explain it then ? the information in the bible pre dates the bible
so if it was plagiarized can you trust that its god inspired

Except the funny thing is, no one is assuming anything. I mean Im really not.

If thats what you call basic logic then so be it.

I mean when your stating the obvious then its pretty safe to "assume" right?

I made a statement how we are either the product of design or chance.

You try to get all philosophical on a nikka and try to propose otherwise.

I nod my head in curiosity and ask for another explanation separate from those. Instead, you take the time out to tell me an irrelevant story.

No youre not..thats why you reach for faith

Thank you for repeating what I said.

Explain what? Anything particular?
I already explained why certain aspects of early sumerian "mythology" such as the story of Adam and Eve and the global flood predates the advent of Judaism. and if youre gonna hit me with that Zeitgeist documentary than you can save your response

as·sump·tion [uh-suhmp-shuhn] Show IPA
noun
1.
something taken for granted; a supposition

When you say for sure "we are either the product of design or chance" thats an assumption

I tried a parable like your hero jesus..i figured its easier than verbose arguments on epistemology and philosophical proofs..you didnt get the point ..my bad

Thank you for repeating what I said.
You misunderstood I meant your obviously NOT OK with not having an answer thats where the "God did it " comes in

Nah the movie wasnt even that good or that deep .I could go into the aspects of the bible that are flawed but im too tired to continue right now.

@the mechanic

let it alone, it is clear the sheep is allergic to thought and needs a science class... bad. Son is one of those willingly purposely ignorant types, that refuses to research anything then makes up a strawman in order to prop up his prepackaged collection of fables.

So for instance he doesnt understand the big bang theory and following sciences therefore he believes a guy who was really strong because of his hairdue beat a thousand men to death with a jawbone of a donkey because his pappy in law gave his bish away to his homie... i mean the scientific shyt with evidence and proof makes NO SENSE what-so-ever, but the whole jawbone bit is so obvious we didnt even need to book to tell us the story, we could just assume it and keep it movin...

the foolishness of the religious is astounding. I mean the brother @Hollywood Hogan just showed how the 1st 5 books of the bible have the story of Moses death ACTUALLY IN IT, yet ol buddy is on some "I believe Moses wrote it, but we cant quite know it" steez....

The religious mind is prepared to lower itself to depths of ignorance unknown in order to preserve its beliefs in the face of facts. hes lost brother, let em go :birdman:

Yes, the thread was derailed when everyone started getting called "fakkits" by a guy who splits his persona into an aggressive username and a submissive one, rolls around on the floor with other men taking turns mounting each other daily, eats sugar-covered strawberries, listens to Moka Only, and names himself after a little boy who wears nothing but a loincloth and whose only friend is a large "bear."

"Happy those who seize your children and smash them against a rock." Psalms 137:9

"Jacob, however, took fresh-cut branches from poplar, almond and plane trees and made white stripes on them by peeling the bark and exposing the white inner wood of the branches. Then he placed the peeled branches in all the watering troughs, so that they would be directly in front of the flocks when they came to drink. When the flocks were in heat and came to drink, they mated in front of the branches. And they bore young that were streaked or speckled or spotted."

Translation:

Jacob placed striped branches where the sheep or goats could see them while mating. This resulted in streaked, speckled, or spotted offspring.

Mark 16:17,18
"And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all;"

It's funny, all those charismatic and evangelical churches do one or both of the first two, but nobody wants to try that last one.
