Am I the only one in here who fukked with 'Longlegs'? Lol.. I enjoyed it a lot. It wasn't my favorite horror of the year or anything like that but it was a solid movie
It was....serviceable. It wasnt on my radar at all. Then all the hype surrounding it as like best horror movie and how it should get oscar noms made me expect too much from it. Probably wouldve felt better about it if I went in blind w/o the oscar buzz bullshyt.

Had me driving 40 miles & risking covid to go see that bullshyt

I ranted about that flick for weeks in here
I literally wanted to fight anyone associated with this fukker!
I have issues going to the theater for horror , because of this "movie"

It was fine, but disappointing relative to the hype and the year-long promotional campaign they put together for it. I still rate The Blackcoat's Daughter as Osgood Perkins' best movie.

:jbhmm:I have a theory that any horror movie you see get any type of hype from the mainstream is most likely going to be mid:ehh:

It's frustrating because the Blair Witch promotions were dope, and coulda led to people building their horror worlds out using websites, ARG elements, and shyt like that. But instead Long Legs had cool promotions, but they spoiled the plot if you dove too far into it.

The worst idea so far is the M3GAN re-release. You text a phone number and when the movie starts, M3GAN sends trivia and factoids as the movie rolls...so they're encouraging people to be on their phones during the movie. That's ass-backwards.

The only one I didn't hate was Smile. It wasn't too much, but it was clever as hell to get free advertisement by having people smiling in the crowds at sporting events and ish like that.

'Smile' franchise is a huge success (I'm a fan of it too) and a lot of that is due to the marketing campaigns. Of course you still have to make good movies but the first part is getting people into the theaters.

I’m getting close to accepting Oz will never top those highs from The Blackcoat’s Daughter. So much evil it drips in every frame. I’d say Hereditary and The Dark and the Wicked are two more modern films off the top of my head that rival it in that department.

Those are two of my favorite modern horror movies for that exact reason. They have a vibe about them. They live in an unsettling atmosphere and never let up.

Grave Torture doesn't quite capture it as consistently, but the final act gets there and never lets up imo.
