Can someone tell me why The Descent is so hyped? I saw it a few weeks ago and it’s an average creature feature. I’m tempted to say it’s hyped because it’s an all female cast. :ld:

I watched House of 1000 Corpses (theatrical cut). First watch since around 2007. I didn’t care for it back then. After a second watch it’s all right.

The descent at the time it came out in theaters, people were having panic attacks in theaters because of how claustrophobic it was. Plus Marshall was coming off that Dog Soldiers stimi, so there was a lot of hype in the horror community leading up to it. Other than that I liked it at the time., but I only watched it once

Now , HOATC, is my favorite of the trilogy... I admit The Devil's Rejects is a far superior flick, but I just like House for the unbridled fukkery that is a RZ flick.
Plus Doctor Satan>>>>>>>

Not expecting anything earth-shattering...just wanna be entertained for the most part and not have it go off the rails & not get too cliche wit certain shyt. At least be a pleasant surprise like FD" Bloodlines.

Some of the chase scenes were a little long for my liking but that Helen scene still hit like a Jeezy shirt in 05'. The Fisherman ain't the flashiest slashin mf but he gets the job done. A few things I hope the sequel does is modernizes the tension, ups the creativity wit dem kills, and let my baby JLH ground things a lil bit from what Im certain will be a inferior cast with not as much charm as the OG.

I’m mixed on the IKWYDLS requel. Tone felt right in line with the other ones (sans Always) honestly, but the story felt bogged down at the same time. Made me look over at big brother ‘Scream’ and marvel at the way they were able to blend in its legacy characters and new stars seamlessly.

The cast did as much as they could with what they had but there were times where I genuinely wondered what the writers were on here. Oh well. Never held these films high up in the first place, but an entryway to some guaranteed stupid fun nonetheless. There’s plenty of that here at least and that’s why I’m mixed.

“Nostalgia is overrated”, but hey y’all…here’s Brandy! Remember her? :troll:

I will say though. This does something really interesting that I’m curious to hear y’all thoughts on. How I feel about it is another thing, but the fukkin’ balls. Lmao.

About to catch new Ari in a bit.

For the first hour and some change, I was preparing to come in and give this shyt sum props...

The "accident" was a bit preposterous for me, but after that, they were actually doing a good job, I thought. Bringing in some modern tropes like murder podcasts + therapy talk without being too cringe with it. Turning up the gore on some of the kills. And the cast, not as iconic as the OG of course, but they are carrying their own weight.

And then...

They bring Helen Shivers back....in a mf dream sequence that was Turrible. We already had y'all pulling on the cache of Ray + Julie for nostalgic purposes so this shyt wasn't even needed smh.

The revel of the killer being Stevie??? They were already pissing me off at this point cuz Teddy was beating da shyt out of one of dem mfs...then they try to remedy that by making Ray be the 2nd killer?? What are we doing cuz?? :mindblown:

They clearly wanted to subvert expectations to avoid copying the OG beat for beat, but I'm doing so, they stepped on their own product. Such a got damn nosedive :gucci:

So I just watched the absolute most batshyt crazy J-Horror movie of my life. It's like a Japanese Horror director wanted to make an Evil Dead-inspired Robot Chicken clip that lasts for an hour. The plot was mostly nonsense, the gore was insane, and every 5-10 minutes, there was some batshyt new plot element that took things in completely unexpected territory.

Visitors aka Akuma ga harawata de ikenie de watashi

Evil meets comedy: creatures, flying eyes, chainsaws, musical heads, Lloyd Kaufman, mystical apparitions, sci-fi horror comedy and a host of other gleeful shenanigans that can't be revealed for fear of ruining the surprise.

It's only an hour long, so I think it's worth a watch, particularly for any Evil Dead fans. The demons are clearly Deadite-inspired, and there's even homage to Ash via chainsaws. But it's a preposterous movie and subtitled, so I'll just throw some spoilers in that I think stood out for people that don't feel like checking it out or can't find it.

It starts like a regular Evil Dead movie for the first 15 minutes, but with comedic levels of blood. But then it begs the question, what if Deadites succeeded and settled into a life in a Rural demon-possessed Japanese village.

A survivor from the opening comes across the Deadite form of a girl who saved him (who also has chainsaws for arms). He had written a song about her, and basically fell in love since she saved his life.

The survivor tries to settle down with the Deadite girl and her friends. They eat gross shyt, and do weird ish. But they also work a farm and live a regular ass life. That's when the news hits that humans are striking back and headed for the Deadites' village.

Right as the Deadites are jamming out to the song the MC wrote about his Deadite GF; the humans come in. They shoot the Deadites except for Chainsaw arms who takes them out. She starts Deadite crying because her friends are dead, but they're Deadites. They all come back to life and start rocking out again.

While she's rocking out, Chainsaw arms accidentally hits a red button. Everyone vanishes except for Chainsaw Deadite. She wanders the streets of the Japanese village alone. She wanders all the way to the beach where there's a megalithic structure right outta 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Aliens step out of the structure. They put a boombox down, and start playing the song the original MC had made for the Chainsaw Deadite. Chainsaw Girls smiles and starts rocking out...the end.

I could see people hating it and thinking it's dumb. But I was thoroughly entertained with no clue what would happen next at any time. It genuinely made me laugh because of how crazy and random it is. I watched it on Screambox.

I actually liked both complaints you have.

Not saying you’re wrong or I’m right.

This will be a film you either enjoy or don’t. You might watch it again and like it for what it is, I might think i overreacted with my response.

But my audience was lit for it. Dude next to me screamed out oh my god, and the chick next to me kept jumping lol. My desensitized ass was locked in. And after the movie ended the crowd gave it an ovation.

I feel like if you fukks with the og series, which isn’t good at all, most people will like it. IMO

I come out of the movie thinking it’s the perfect tubi movie that got green lit with a Hollywood budget and theatrical release
