Crazy thing is Julia and kirsty don’t exist in part 2.

It’s all about Harry D'Amour— he’s the main character in lords of illusion and a character in a lot of Barker’s stories.
Lord of Illusions deserves its own remake. I remember loving that movie, but I watched it a while back and the effects just aged miserably. I didn't realize Harry D'Amour was a common character like that!

If I couldn't get hyped enough, I'm hearing lots of positive chatter on 'Weapons'

I don't want to be spoiled so I'm being careful but from the reactions I've seen so far, very positive.
We'll see. There were tons of "positive " reviews about Barbarian and that shyt was trash once it hit the halfway point.:mjpls:

Rewatched Rec last night. It still slaps

I've done some rewatches on other classic found footage movies too, because it's my jam. One thing that stands out from the greats is that they're more patient. Rec starts with 15 mins of just hanging out at the fire department and waiting for an alarm. Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum starts with everyone meeting and doing a little field trip. Grave Encounters gets to the asylum faster, but spends the first fifteen minutes with goofy interviews that undercut the hauntedness of the location.

And I think those little 15 minutes "no action" sequences help. They introduce and connect the audience to characters, helping to get everyone invested in the fates of each person. Rec's one exception is the MC Angela; who I found pretty annoying off the rip and only worse as things descended to chaos.

But yeah, 15 mins of calm makes the descent to chaos hit twice as hard and allows the writers to set up future scares. Rec does this especially well, escalating from calm to chaos very quickly. People will be talking in a hallway when someone falls from the upper floors. The urgency builds quickly and Rec closes with a GREAT intense chase sequence up the last few flights of stairs, leading into its legendary night-vision scene.

Rec's a classic for a reason. I think it moves more slowly and deliberately than what I feel modern audiences are used to. But the payoff is soooo worth it! I also love the merging of possession and viral outbreak for a premise.

7.8 outta 10...great flick. Respect to Manu, the true protagonist of the movie.

This dude on youtube that makes the videos where they recommend movies on streaming had recommended Bone Tomahawk (2015) with Kurt Russell. He was like "there's a kill scene in this movie that is really gruesome". I was like it can't be THAT crazy.

It was. :francis: I was like "OH shyt :damn:".

edit: it's free on Tubi

Bone Tomahawk is a personal favorite of mine. It makes the wild west dark and scary like it damn well would have been. The cannibals are intimidating as hell, and half the "protagonists" are bad dudes themselves. Kurt Russell kills it too.

That kill is an all-timer. Art the Clown would be proud :mjlol: .

If you liked Bone Tomahawk, the violence in Brawl on Cell Block 99 has Vince Vaughn scrapping and crushing skulls in a similar manner. The dude that made Bone Tomahawk and Brawl on Cell Block 99 also made a Puppet Master movie (the Littlest Reich) but I think his Puppet Master movie is mid. Bone Tomahawk and Brawl on Cell Block 99 are dope to me.

Not remotely horror, but I need to suggest this movie somewhere because it's absolutely brilliant. Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes is a single-shot time travel movie. The MC finds two monitors that connect his present self to a version of him two minutes into the future, and the plot unfolds as he and his friends go back and forth between the monitors, experimenting with it.

Every time it feels like the mechanic is running its course, they introduce a new twist that spices things up and keeps you interested. It's only an hour and ten minutes, obviously shot on a shoestring budget, and it straight up blew my mind. But it's also hilarious imo. There are madd gags that made me laugh.

This shyt's an instant classic for me.
