Salma Hayek is not #1

Notable omissions

Ppl will disagree but something needs to be said about 10 year old Chloe Moritz in "Let Me In." The damage she did in that movie.

Geena Davis in Transylvania 6-5000. Six two with Double Ds, how you forget that. She played a seductress twice in her career and was turned Into a throwaway in Blink Twice.

If they included TV, Phobe Tonkin from TVD/originals and the Katherine character.

No one from Buffy/Angel, Harmony is meant to be a joke, she's as if Kristy Swanson turned into a vampire.

Yea I think this list is just movies. I'm rewatching Buffy/Angel right now. I'm on S7 Buffy S4 Angel and the only person that I think could be on the list is Darla.

Jessica from True Blood could also be on the list if they included TV characters.

I don't have a problem with Salma Hayek being #2 behind Seline from Underworld. They made 6 of them shyts :mjlol: I think I've only ever watched 3 of them.

i watched the first two, wasn't my bag. Kate Beckinsale made a whole career just being the cute girl at the nerd table. It doesn't hurt that her ex husband directed half her movies. Eyeshadow and leather don't make you a bad bish, she was hot but she did the bare minimum

Dreamcatchers:

Another Stephen King novel made into a movie. Never heard of it until I bought it. The movie is decent, but longer than it should have been. Not sure what the point of giving the main group of characters powers; really felt unnecessary for a creature feature.

Morgan Freeman was great. Never seen him play a character like the one he did here. I might find myself saying “bucko” from now on. :heh:

The Comeback:

Will come back to drop thoughts when it’s done.

Dreamcatcher is one of the Stephen King adaptations that made me go, "I bet the book is really good" even though the movie was a bit of a mess imo.

I saw a trailer for this 2012 movie called Red Lights, and mistook it for a thriller. I was wondering how I could miss it, because the cast is Robert DeNiro, Sigourney Weaver, Elizabeth Olsen, and Cillian Murphy with a premise that sounds dope

Professional skeptic Margaret Matheson and her assistant, Tom Buckley, set out to prove that famous psychic Simon Silver, who has re-emerged after years of seclusion since the mysterious death of his toughest critic, is a fraud.

It's a great horror set up. A famous psychic comes out of hiding, faces off with the best skeptic in the game, and she can't disprove him and dies under strange circumstances. So her protege becomes obsessed with disproving the psychic while more and more supernatural seeming things happen around him.

It coulda been great as a thriller. But there's no tension, the illusions are lame, and the big twist at the end is incredibly goofy. The stars are mostly mid too...Cillian Murphy does well, Elizabeth Olsen is a scene-stealer but under-used, while DeNiro and Weaver kinda just sell.

So, it sneaks onto some horror listings but it's not a horror movie. It has an allstar cast but it's mid. More importantly, it got me wondering what other movies have premises that could have worked better as a straight up horror. Like there are comedies like Cable Guy and Short Circuit, that have a premise you could make straight up horror if you just shift the tone.

Haven’t watched 2.0 yet, but glad it’s flopping. Like it as an ego check for Blum and this couldn’t come at a better time with them recently bagging the Saw franchise.

Outright abandoning the genre that brought you success in the first place is certainly a choice. Even CHUCKY didn’t do that, as wild as Bride/Seed got. :picard:

This is a direct quote from Blum:

"We all thought M3GAN was like Superman. We could do anything to her. We could change genres. We could put her in the summer. We could turn her from a bad guy to a good guy. We kind of classically overthought how powerful people’s engagement was with her."

Gotta imagine if they possibly fukked up a potential franchise because they tried to be on some “let’s be different for the sake of being different” steez. :jbhmm:

If the Chucky show was still on you know Mancini would have thrown his shots. :heh:

One thing about 2.0 is the audience scores are actually really good. But I'm not interested because it looks like an action-comedy :mjlol:

The marketing flopped bad. The first movie blew up partially off the strength of a two second viral clip of Megan dancing. They chased that viral moment and got nothing out of it.

The sad thing is it'll still make a profit. It was a 25 million dollar project and made 17 million off global and domestic sales in week one. So it's a flop compared to the original, but it'll probably still bring some extra money in. Just nowhere near what they projected. I've mentioned this before, but I think the best comparison is Don't Breath 2. They had a surprise hit and decided to turn a serious threatening villain into a kind of anti-hero. That one also managed to be profitable but was a major flop compared to its predecessor.
