It has some tense and eerie moments early on; the opening with the kid and the mom scene being one of them, and then the brief Apollo storyline had a nice hook to it. But after awhile, it started to drag a little to me. Still, with what they were working with, there was creativity there and you could see some really great moments shine through.

I've been slacking on my movie intake this year. But, I got my Horror Movie Challenge list ready and then I'm sure I'll filter in some other random shyt as well. Tubi be cooking for a free service. Shudder always has some good hidden gems. Feel the rest of the main streamers kind of lackin.

I didn't think we'd be byke in order for me to say them Terrorizer movies just ain't for me but I still watched #2, and there was sum shyt here and there that really captures the essence of horror/tension and I get why they're a thing for some. I had watched #1 awhile back and enjoyed it a bit more I think. This one was kind of clunky. My man in the costume store 'breh awareness' on 0 :camby:

Late to drop Day 2 thoughts, because the damned site crashed again (Idk how to make a discord, but we really might need one). But let's talk Terrifer 2

29. The Ghost Station (2023) (Tubi, Amazon Prime)
30. WNUF Halloween Special (2013) (Shudder/AMC+)
31. John Carpenter's Halloween

I'm firmly in the camp that Terrifier 2 is the best of the first three. It's the most complete story of the trilogy, with better character arcs than 1, and a sense of closure that's lacking from part 3. I also feel like Part three was sort of chasing the Bedroom Kill scene to the point of maybe overdoing it.

It's also nice to revisit this sequel with the additional bits of lore we got from part three. I'm seriously interested to learn more about Sienna's father and would love a flashback or even a prequel to flesh him out.

The only downside is that this story can drag a bit at times, and some of the gross-out stuff (laundry scene) don't hit for me. It's funny too, that Art's most iconic moments for me aren't his kills. It's the way he messes with Sienna at the store or the jokes before he goes nutso at the bar in part three.

Next up, I'll talk VHS: Halloween for my viewer's choice.

2. Terrifier 2 (Amazon Prime)
3. Terrifier 3

Terrifier 2 Horribly paced and about 40 minutes too long, it drags , but it is the best of the series
The only stand out was the Art fukkery when he was not killing people.
but the genre needed this though - They needed a new big name horror icon to make people nostalgic.
Hopefully we get more Freddy/Jason/leatherface Etc.

Terrifier 3
Gross just for the sake of being gross, still about 25 minutes too long
dude needs an editor that would stand up to him
they added enough to the lore to keep you interested but that was about it

the Tom Savini stimi was a nice touch though
Art Fukkery was dialed up to 11
The fx are top notch though

Oh - Are we jumping ship ? or riding here till the wheels fall off?

To make a new discord server all you have to do is on your phone scroll down to the bottom and select the green plus sign and go from there?

I've joined about 6 discords and the new site
but maybe we need a separate discord for the comic/anime/horror threads
we are some of the most active on here other than TSC and JBO :russ:

I'd hate to lost this thread because it's 2000+ pages of horror discussions. I've pumped 2000+ posts into it myself, and that's still only fourth-most posts. But I've made a thread on the new coli as a backup and jumped on the higher learning discord so I can stay connected. I do think we could have a discord for the horror threat alone though, it's definitely one of the most active threads on the coli. We at least have to keep it alive if the forum goes away.

Obviously, I stan VHS and its combination of two of my favorite horror subgenres. VHS: Halloween is another quality installment, though I think it falls short of the top tier and would fit somewhere at the bottom of the second tier or top of the third tier of VHS movies.

Here's quick thoughts for each short:
Coochie Coochie Coo - I liked the haunted house vibe and the visuals on this one were creepy in an uncanney valley sort of way. It's chaotic and doesn't explain much, but the madness of it all works really well to set the tone.

Ut Supra Sic Infra - This was my favorite of the bunch. It's cleverly set up and has really dope visual effects while also hitting all its marks quickly and effectively. I wasn't shocked when to find out that the director for this is Paco Plaza, the man behind the Rec movies.

Fun Size - This one's by the creator of "Too Many Cooks," an absolute legend of an Adult Swim one-shot show (or more of just a title track but it has to be seen to be understood). It's batshyt crazy in the best way, combining the AS fratboy humor with some really gory stuff. It's the kind of fun and gnarly combination that great VHS shorts are made from.

Kidprint - I feel like it's impossible to have so many shorts in an anthology without having a dud or two. This was my dud. It tries to cram too much story into its short runtime, which winds up making the story a bit of a mess, detracting from some cool skin-grating effects.

Home Haunt - I feel like this one might be most people's favorite short from this VHS. It's a literal haunted house walk-through where the haunts all come to life. That gives it a diversity of creatures and kills that we speedrun through, and the effects live up to the chaotic setup.

Overall:
What keeps this VHS from breaking through to the top of the series is that none of the features are truly standout. Home Haunt and Ut Supra Sic Infra are really good, but I can definitely think of five shorts that I'd put above them. They'd probably break into the bottom of my top ten. On the bright side, there's only one short that I didn't like, and the consistent quality makes this a good VHS film.

One last note, it irks me that in spite there typically only being one foreign director per VHS movie, they always seem to go above and beyond. Safe Haven, Parallel Monsters, The Subject, and God of Death are quick to my mind as great shorts in the VHS series and Ut Supra Sic Infa is yet another standout.

Finally found a movie i saw on regular TV as a teenager in the mid 90s, without the nudity. It's about a revenge demon who comes to Earth to find love.....and continue killing. It would be very 90s to f a revenge demon. @Lootpack

Sling gives you a gazillion channels to validate you paying such a high price for it and it was on one of those channels. I thought the special effects were better but what did I know in 1994.

I'm suprised we actually made it back :blessed:

I watched Beezel and agree the acting in the 3rd segment held down the movie. I also think there were a few jump scares that seemed unnecessary.

Yesterday I started watching Terrifier 2 and got to the part where they get to the Halloween Party after the bedroom scene. The mom finding her daughter should be a meme, that's some bad acting. I'll finish it up before I watched something else tonight.

So far my thoughts are that Terrifier 2 led way for the revival of independent slashers, and splatter films. Just like Halloween 2018's success led to legacy horror franchises getting requels. Terrifier 2 did this by going bigger and better with what made people talk about the first movie. I don't think that without Terrifier 2 wed get movies like In a Violent Nature, Thanksgiving, Stream 2024, and probably all those public domain killer movies.

Once or twice a year, Tubi drops a horror movie that's actually decent as opposed to the other 90% of the schlock they put out. It's still typically loaded with plot holes and obvious budget constraints, but it's entertaining for one reason or another...Like Lowlifes was a pretty good horror movie in 2024.

I'm not sure if this fits that bill. But it was easily the most memorable viewing experience I've had with a Tubi original in 2025 . A movie called Match. It's ridiculous, gross and full of plotholes...but it's definitely a standout and I'm not sure what to make of that.

After Paola is matched with a handsome online suitor, she arrives for a first date to discover a house full of dark and terrifying secrets.

It's like the writer said "to hell with realism, let's just pick some random crazy." And you know what? I kinda ate it up. I was confused at points, entertained, grossed out, but never sure where the hell this plot would go next. It's modern exploitation horror. I can't call it good...but it's so goddamn gross and crazy that I laughed my ass off and was entertained. Like, I want to force a room full of my friends to watch this just so I can see their reactions.
