Both the absolute line and the new ultimate line work best as short runs.

I know the status quo isnt the most exciting but it books ends really good runs. The issue right now with X-men is they don’t want to just go back to the status quo and instead they are playing with the corpse of a great Krakoa run. A return to the school or maybe taking over a town would have all been better than what they are doing.

I'd say both (absolute and ultimate) could work best as the status quo but with a definitive end (which doesn't have to be short or around the corner), and that the current status quo sucks because it lacks a definitive end. Creative refuses to let it reach such things (logical conclusions), opting to always reset the clock and stunting intended growth or any bad ass ideas writers have. I'd say the books have good runs despite the status quo, but it's now few and far between, and ironically they are the runs that attempt to change the status quo lol

There's this fear of OMG if we don't keep Peter Parker's 70 year history canon forever while locking him in as a late 20s dweebfor the next 50 years then the world will end!
I mean, you said it: the status quo isn't the most exciting... well, what the hell am i reading comics for if it's not to be excited about the bullshyt? :pachaha:

I'd also say the Krakoa run ended like shyt (due to creative butchering Hickman's idea), and ironically the next thing they did post-Krakoa... was have Cyclops team take over a town lol

Granted i threw the book and series back in the dumpster shortly after, so whatever has happened since, idk

I completely agree. Editors are scared to death of allowing natural/logical progression of these characters. Instead they love to recycle the status quo.

Spiderman and X-Men are particularly unreadable because of the stunting or resets of what should be obvious character progression.

Honestly? Like, honestly... I'd hard reset the bullshyt every 10-years :manny:

I don't mean reset to the status quo but to the very fukkin beginning on some whole new universe with whatever surprise twists (like what you got with the Ultimate universe) and say, ok you cowards that 616 shyt dead, this the mainline now and you got a decade to fukk with it before we do it again :pachaha:

Definitive beginning, definitive end. If you kill a muthafukka, he dead dead until the next hard reset. Oh, Spidey gon be a grown ass man with kids for the next 120 issues?? Better strap (them baby strollers) up! :mjlol:

I'm only half joking

Yeah, wasnt expecting that ending.

Who am I kidding I wasnt expecting none of that :mjlol:

I been reading “Power Fantasy” trades gettin in to the series…..after issue #11, I can’t wait! I read the spoilers from fans on Reddit…..I’m waiting for somebody to drop the pics of the actual surprise. I love this book!! I thought I’d never be into a superhero book with no action in it lol! Not gonna front though, I was kinda disappointed they didn’t show Valentina n Queen fighting in that “Summer Of Love 2” case.

DC K.O., brehs. I usually roll my eyes to these big events that promise to change things FOREVER every six months, but this one, or at least its beginning, got me.

I hope the Absolute universe has an “end” point.

Like whatever point they remove Darkseid from the universe is the natural end point. If DC wants to continue then restart it as a “Absolute Era” and continue on as an on-going universe.

But the original runs can be its own trade

Is it that good?

I picked up the first few issues because a podcast I listen to was raving about it but I didn’t read them.

Maybe I will catch up

West where the Sunsets
I took over a year off from comics and slowly getting back into it. Currently reading the Elseworlds DC v Vampires. Have a few other ongoing and mini-series to read. Just found out Eddie Brock took over the Carnage symbiote. :ohhh:

How’s the New Gods book? I like that world, but mainly for Darkseid. Orion is cool and Metron is interesting.

Comic book artwork is :trash: more than ever. :scust:
