You ever watch those housing shows? See a big ass mansion in Atlanta for like 200,000

Wish I had America citizenship :noah:
Yeah,

Having lived in both Canada and the U.S, I gotta say as far as quality of living that Canada has the U.S BEAT.

The only thing the U.S offers is more opportunities cause of size and more nice cities that have decent home prices
( Basically in the South, Midwest, and parts of the West like Arizona and Nevada)

I guess it’s a pick your poison situation :yeshrug:

Chale please
You were able to buy property long ago when it was affordable.

How can you make almost six figures have good credit but the mortgage you qualify for can barely get you a 300 sq foot condo.

10 years ago a house 400,000 was considered expensive in Toronto. Ten years later you can't even find a condo for 400k in Toronto but it's all good and dandy because you are at the trough years ago.

So were you and everyone else. Acting like you can’t afford a home in the GTA. You can find townhouses for 500k easy. But people want to buy downtown.

A 400k house 10 years ago was not considered expensive. Stop.

Also BS that 100k salary gets you 300 sqft condo. Stop it.

Supply and demand is what I believe in. If you think everyone deserves the same home without working hard for it then go move to a socialist country.

I have been talking about investing in real estate for a decade now. Y’all didn’t want to listen. Now look at you. Simple economics is lost on people it seems.

I get Vancouver but GTA? So many places to make money just 5 years ago. When Nikki’s were saying they couldn’t live in condos and condos were cheap I bought. So why should I get screwed because y’all were too dumb or scared to invest?

Real estate one of the quickest sure fire ways to build wealth. The game was there in plain sight and y’all chose to ignore. Not my problem.

Stop buying expensive cars and $1500 phones. Go to school, grt a good degree and get a good job.

The average condo in Toronto is 533,600

I thought we were talking about Toronto now you mentioning GTA

GTA encompasses Halton and durham region where yes housing is cheaper

A 400,000 house ten years ago was considered expensive. I remember my parents buying a mansion in Thornhill for that price and that was pricey. And Thornhill has always been pricier than Toronto.

Again look at you breh in your late thirties and you invested years ago. For folks who are younger they never got to eat at the trough

Ten years ago I bought real estate for cheap

Stop complaining even though you were 18 or 15 and now a decade later I'm living lavish while your paying 1,700 for a bedbug apartment With side heaters.

It doesn't matter if you go to school and get a good job. Do you know how hard it is to qualify for a mortgage under the new rules and what's out there?

He has my vote

Clamp down on immigration
Stop bowing down to these pre and post op fakkits.
Balance the budget
Canada clamping down in immigration would be stupid as immigrants there are the ones working and creating jobs.

In 2008 the average home in Toronto sold for 359,000

A condo at John and Welington sold for 215,000 in 2008

You can't even buy a 1bdrm at Jane and finch for that price in 2019

I'm not liberal. Dont even love in TO anymore. Going by experience. ALL the immigrants I knew there were self employed. ALL

Let me rephrase I'm all for those fleeing terror and oppression and even open to immigration in areas that need it.

Toronto is a city that does not need more people.

I'd prefer more of a provincial nominee where you have to stay and work in a province for a while as a requirement of your pr than the system now.

I work in healthcare and it's so underfunded and there's no more money coming in

The have nots will always want to see the world burn just because. Why work hard and make smart decisions. Government will bail you out. Just like Wynne did right? :lolbron:
If prices plummet, this would present opportunities for you as well to scoop up properties on the low. You should be welcoming this if you're on that investment wave... so long as you ain't left holding the proverbial bag :mjsherlock:

I agree with you totally. Toronto does not need more people. Halifax/Dartnouth and New Brunswick do.. as well as eastern prairies.

Stop it. Average condo price in the 416 is $602K Average condo price in the 905 is $448K. If you can't afford a 448K property then you shouldn't be buying.

Average townhouse price in the 905 is $603K. Semi $675K

A couple should be able to afford this easily.

So yea, go to school, get a good education and a good paying job and you will be able to afford a decent home. Too many people feel they are owed a house in a great area and pay nothing for it. That doesn't happen downtown where demand is high and supply is not available.

As far as renting, it is the responsibility of the government to provide affordable housing, NOT other people. You want subsidized housing, run to the government. The government has built nothing over the last 20+ years. That is a big reason why rents have gone up.

On top of that, transit system has pushed people closer to downtown because it straight up sucks. If we had better transit, more people would live outside the core and thus keep prices down.

Lastly, you're talkign about affordability for 1st time home buyers. The new rules KILLED first time home buyers. It dropped affordability by 20% and pushed many 1st time home buyers out of the market. Rent controls and ridiculous rental rules that only protect tenants sent rents through the roof. I told yall, rent control would make rents go even higher and what happened? They did.

This is what happens when you cry to the government. They start doing dumb shyt for votes. They don't care about yall.

So cry to the same government you're running to right now for the shytty rental market. You know how much more I'm collecting these days? It's crazy.

Plenty of people my age an dolder who had the opportunity and didn't do shyt. Don't even start with that age shyt. There's an article in Toronto Life about a 30 year old who owns 10 properties. An immigrant at that. The worst thing that happened is everyone thinks they are owed a house. You aren't owed shyt.

You even used to argue with me and I told you condos are the move. What was so difficult about living at home and coming up with 5% down and jumping into the market? You act like that shyt was impossible.

Buying property in a world class city simply isn't affordable to the common, average Joe. That's the reality. There needs to be more supply in the market which will bring down the demand and prices. Simple economics. Economics don't give a fukk about anyones feelings.
