So a man who won the mvp 3x from 87-93 and came in 2nd twice in that span wasn't the best player in the league?

96-98 won 2 more mvp's and came in 2nd in 97 while winning 10 scoring titles in that same span? :rudy:

so if MVP's is the gauge, that's only 5 seasons. One fewer than I gave him credit for.

As far as scoring titles. Nobody in the league was shooting as much as Jordan if u add free throws in he was shooting about 25-30 shots a game. Nobody else even came close to that in Jordan's era.

swept and avg 22, 7, 7,

bronze stans confuse best regular season stats with best player

i wont argu with you that he didnt have the best regualr season stats becasue i guess he did if you look at the numbers

but is that what makes you the best player in the nba? thats the real question..

then in 011 he avg 18,7,7 in the finals... same year during the regualr season he avg 27,7,7,

i will give you last year that he was the best player in the nba since he delivered in the PO FINALLY... and was able to maintain his season avg numbers through out the PO unlike previous efforts

like i said hes had the best regualr season stats over that time period but is that what makes you the best player in the nba?

also from 05-present how many teams with over 50 wins has bron neat in the PO?

LOL @ you dismissing the only thing that could tell you if player A was better than player B before these metrics existed. Nevermind though, use all the metrics you want.

things can change. you sound like one of those fukking dinosaurs who used to use batting average as a basis to who is the best hitter, or that the qb who throws for the most yardage is the best passer. who cares how people measured players in past decades. you do know you can use both the eye test, AND some more advanced measures to form a conclusion right? PER isnt even advanced. you know why you dismiss the "advanced measures"? because youre fukking biased, and they dont show you what you want to see, so you just throw them to the side. THATS why you dismiss them.

This is blatantly false. Kobe Bryant was hated before he even left high school.

People rejoiced when he shot two airballs in the playoffs, like that was really his fault. He should've never been in that situation, but he perservered.

Then it was he only nice because of Shaq. He can't do it with out Shaq. He does it without Shaq, but he ain't winning though. He wins, but that's cuz of Gasol though.

Harold Minor was compared to Jordan, Grant Hill was compared to Jordan and he was the most popular player in the league until he was crippled by injury. Vince Carter was compared to MJ, but Kobe who was better than all them, it's totally blasphemous to even be mentioned in the same breathe as Jordan. Totally illogical.

:skip:

you could replace "Kobe" with "Lebron" in that post and Kobe fans would be as guilty as the ppl youre accusing of hating Kobe :heh:

:pachaha: is that you in your avi?

Jordan also won a defensive player of the year and came in 2nd in mvp voting to magic twice in that span.A player who shot 54% averaged 32.5 ppg 8 rebs and 8 assists and had 7 triple doubles in a row and had triple doubles in 10 out of 11 games in a season came in 2nd and all that was from 87-93.From 96-98 it's not even debatable Jordan was clearly the best player in the league you don't know wtf you're talking about

Nah, that deposit is thoroughly rejected. Laker stans and Kobe stans alike didn't give a fukk about LeBron when he first came to the league cuz that was the beginning of Kobe's career without shaq. nikkaz wanted to see Lakers/heats so Kobe could finally shut shaq the fukk up. Watching prime Kobe play basketball >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> watching anything lebron has done thus far.

But meh, this thread is almost like a spin-off of my "Why do you hate Kobe Bryant?" thread. There's a truly vicious hatred for Kobe and it goes beyond this place, listening to some cats on TV begrudgingly give Kobe his props is hilarious and sad at the same time. To me Kobe was the best from the 01 Finals til the 2010 Finals, all geek stats, individual awards aside just as players you gotta be a fukkin idiot to not take Kobe especially between 06 and 08 before his first finger injury.

I mean damn, I used to hate duncan so much I wanted to shoot a fair one with him regardless of if I'd win or lose I just wanted to fight this nikka when he ended the dynasty and ruined Kobe's game winning shot with a game winner that was then ruined by fisher. Point is, even with that hate I could never possibly sustain such contempt for a person I don't even know like these nikkaz do for Kobe, you'd think he were j.edgar hoover or some shyt. Blaming stans is a weak excuse too, hopefully yall realize that and enjoy whatever's left of Kobe's career. :ld:

That's laughable considering you're defending these metrics to the bitter end. And I already acknowledged these metrics have a place in baseball, you're too busy bytching about metrics to see that though. I'm not going to depend on metrics to tell me that Karl Malone or Charles Barkley are better than D Wade, despite have a worse career PER rating, that's just fukking stupid!

Many people considered Magic & Bird better than Jordan. Jordan was a ballhogging chucker who would never win any titles.

im not defending these metrics as the end all be all. just wondering why would you completely disregard them (biased much). wouldnt most logical people use every metric and stat at your disposal to help formulate an opinion of what they see on the court? sure, logical people would. kobestan isnt logical though. you shyt on the guy using win shares and PER as a counterpoint to your opinion, and came back with a buttcheeks "eye test" argument. thats seriously all you could come up with to back up your point? i havent even stated where i fall on that opinion (he wasnt the best for 4 years, but he has been the best in a season). if the "eye test" is all you can come up with for validating your point, then there must not be much there behind your opinion

this guy said "stanning aside". yeah, okay. :heh:

i'd like to see you define 'best player'. then we can argue the merits of your "he was the best for at least 4 years" argument. or even 1 year. we need to establish a baseline.

Why would you need metrics to formulate an opinion of what you see? Tim Duncan is the best PF ever, I didn't need any formula for that other than seeing him play and comparing his resume to other PFs.

Contrary to what the camel said, numbers can do a lot of lying too. Especially geek stats that just now tried to find a seat at the basketball discussion table.
