The Land That Time Forgot
Popular danceable black music (groove) has been gone for about 25 years.

Dancing as a common activity for dating, etc., has also been gone for about the same time.

Take a song like "Must Be The Music" by Secret Weapon. It's 38 years old. Uptempo groove. Singing. Rhyming, Bass-line driven.

Really, only Bruno Mars makes music today that approximates this feel. (which is why older black generations vibe so much to his catalogue).

Ok
1) Bruno Mars is a cover artist regurigating past shyt .

2) The wave has passed. It was beautiful we had a good run stop trying to relive the past. The music we had was a reflection of the times. Times have changed.......not for the better IMO but I can chill because I saw better times and im grateful for that. Imagine not knowing Off the Wall Mike or Chaka or Whitney or Aretha or Kells or even Breezy. Imagine if youre 12 now just picking up music. Lets just be grateful we at least remember the time.

If you're primed to think today's music is trash you won't like anything anyone posts.

Good R&B is out there.
H.E.R., blxst, kwaye, the weeknd, jorja Smith, wolftyla, erika de cassier.

Today's music also fuses a lot of genres. A lot of rappers sing now like polo G or lil baby

OP is right. Almost NONE of the music today is exciting, uplifting and makes you want to dance. Almost all of it makes me feel sleepy and is low energy. The only way I could find half this shyt remotely entertaining is under the influence.

The 70s, 80s and 90s and even early 2000s were relatively more optimistic times. We're living in a darker time period, where there is no optimism for the future and it reflects in our music.

Whisper singing and goo goo ga ga baby noise singing

bring the church musicians back with power house voices(with range), snapping snare drums, syncopated bass and rhythms and actual melody lines
