The thread isnt really about dissing peoples preference. The thread is acknowledging the fact that the rhythm and groove has mostly disappeared in R&B music.

I think that sentiment is rather arbitrary. It's mere conjecture. Not a fact.

As someone who was a hardcore music fan, I have learned that if you like a certain sound, that you will make the effort to find it.

There are literally thousands of artists from all over the world who make music. That includes music from all genres and sub genres.

There are artists that make the type of R&B music that caters to your particular taste.

Thing is, not all of it is easily accessible. As the old saying goes....

Gotta dig in the crates!!

BTW, I miss digging in the crates and finding gems!

Those was the glory days! :ahh:

60s/70s heads shytted on 90s R&B just like you’re attempting to do. If it’s not for you, it’s not for you. Music evolves. It’s not supposed to sound exactly like 25 years ago.

Your post becomes invalid once you realize how many new musicians are sampling the 70s-90s:mjgrin:

There's a lot that I like and I don't knock whatever is current too much. But music in general, to me, peaked in the 90's. I'm not saying that because that was my teens and beginning of my early 20's. So I just listen to what I enjoy and I try not to make comparisons.

I was just thinking the other day why we don't get songs like this:

R&B is not where it was on the mainstream level like it was in the 90's. There's not going to be any danceable popish records if artists aren't getting radio play or major looks. Candy Rain and songs like that were made for urban radio.

Do people even dance now? Clubs aren't what they used to be. There's not really a culture for that type of music to thrive.

No argument here. That's one of the great things about music. Everybody hears it differently

Good! Glad you understand because when you stop arguing with folks and vibe to what you vibe to that is when life becomes more enjoyable.

Actual music is dead. When the band's left so did the groove. Put it on the oldies stations, those songs are hits just based off the instrumental. You can't play an instrumental today and dance to it, the music is nothing but some weak ass chords over trap drums with some non-singing "model" someone fukking sounding like a doped out ghost. At least Amerie tried to sing, I don't know what these women today are doing.

Its some form of talk-singing..:hhh:

I noticed the trend began in the early 2000s to provide cover to wack singers.

I love Amerie. This still sounds fresh.

Her 1st to albums will never get old to me. Shows what you can do with the music is legit even if the singing isnt the best. Today, the music is trash and the artists arent even trying to legit sing.
