In a General sense, I agree with the Record Labels

If an artist has absolutely no buzz, the artist has zero leverage. Plus the record label has to invest millions just to get you popping and manage your career

One thing I would do is have this type of contract end on the 3rd album. Because in theory, the artist should have built a big enough buzz to have a contract more favorable to the artist

I know it's fun to attack the record labels, but they have a point in doing it :yeshrug:
But where does integrity play into it? Or am I trying to plant flowers in an active warzone.

I guess business is fuk you pay me 100%

Okay now we getting somewhere. So what’s stopping the rest of these artists if the opportunity is there? Are they just not business savvy enough?

Respect the good & understand the bad
There’s gotta be alternatives? How can we as consumers help?

How much power do we have?!:damn:

Gotta support independent artists. People hate on the bay music scene, but at least no one can say that we don't support our own. Not being tied to labels is a big reason our style has always stayed so unorthodoxed :yeshrug:

Watch this @Booksnrain

this is Wendy day who got Master P and Baby of cash money control of their music

So do independent artists actually potentially make more than some mainstream artists b/c they get all of their profits. I’m just in the first couple of minutes and chick said artists on typical contracts only get like 12.5% of their album sale profits. That’s like pennies off every unit sold?! Or am I trippin?

Music business is a dark business. Coli nikkas love to make it seem like this “streaming era” makes everything easier but there’s a reason they on here posting with us and not making hits

i mean , if you're really about creating than streaming is good , you can still get paid with no affiliation, just depends how hard youre willing to work and timing

The same can be said about the South, but P learned a lot of his methods from the bay.
