My point is to get the "tangible" or gay marriage passed it took years to change the culture so their wouldn't be any real political backlash when they finally pressed the issue. They campaigned to the people first. Then they used Money (because they didn't have the votes) to get the laws changed.
I guess people think that MLK did his I have a Dream speech and white people immediately passed the civil rights bill. MLK started leading the movement in 1954!!
The civil rights bill was passed in 1965.
If you want to pass something that's unpopular you have to change the culture first then use pressure on Politicans after.
