In terms of new artists in the past 10 years, I think Kamasi Washington and Leon Bridges are probably my favorites.

I can’t really think of too many newer rappers who I’ve listened to and thought this is amazing. Kendrick is probably the last. With that said, I try to listen to a lot of the newer stuff here and there. I like some of it but a lot of it isn’t for me.

I absolutely listen to most of my rap from artists who got their start more than ten years ago. I’ve more so though found myself listening to different genres—jazz, R&B, soul, rock, funk—and going back in time to listen to their great artists and records.
