Had a friend talk about a coworker who always complains that her son is 23, living with his girlfriend in an expensive apartment, hot tempered and can't keep a job

A family friend was talking about her son who's 26 and is more focused on his girlfriend then finishing school or getting a job

Another family friend, who's son is 27, was living in a nice neighborhood with his parents. Then got the girl pregnant, now living in the hood with his girl, and he can't keep a consistent job

A next door neighbor talking about his son who's 26 and was living with him for 5 years, then just decided he loves his girlfriend so much he wants to live with her and get an apartment



What the hell is up with brehs in their 20s shacking up with a girl before they even have a consistent job/career? . Starting a family too early is the number 1 reason your career gets halted, and limits your earning potential
Bet you these the same dudes who in a couple years gonna be like life ain't fair and I can't catch a break

Your query is legit, but let's also ask why the girlfriends they have put up with them? Don't these young ladies have a say on how their relationships are going?

Just graduated and didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life
Lost my identity in a girl I was crazy about
Happily married but still think about “What if”
shyt went to hell and I had to get out their and get it
But that break up enraged me like no other
And for years until I met my ex wife
I was taking that shyt out on ALL women
Not knowing I was the REAL DEMON
Finally got my shyt together since my mini me was born
Got real professional help and never looked back
I still have my moments of a$$hole 23
But looking back that was because I hated myself and the girl I was with truly did deserve better even though we both weren’t ready
And left each other with emotional scars
That age is a really weird/pivotal point in an young mans life
And it’s usually around the time we FEEL that we met the ONE
Some are lucky but even that relationship either

Or needs maintenance right now
It’s also the age where alot of nikkas THINK they got the whole life thing figured out

It can but being in a bad situation and getting into a relationship can also cripple you if there's no real pressure for you to do better. A lot of men shacked up with women who know how to get it on their own feel very little outside pressure as long as they're providing sex and comfort. Problem is, men in these situation eventually grow to be resentful of the women supporting them and begin to exhibit self sabotaging behaviors.

I had a $700 a month apartment I shared with a high school classmate. Everything was on me because my monthly expenses were under $750 and I was getting $500 a week.

2025, I couldn’t imagine making under $23 an hour single.

I can imagine people are shacking up to get these bills paid. We have three houses in our HOA that has 5+ cars outside the house nightly. Each of the 5-bedroom houses have a person in them. Some of those people have kids.

These streets is wild. Hopefully all our Coli Brehs can sustain themselves without a women but use a woman to get ahead and improve themselves.

Good points. There are 23 year olds including myself at the time who were lucky enough to get good jobs and afford $1600 for rent. But we were in the minority. And even though I could technically afford it, I still stayed at home for a couple years.

Yeah the gender/salary stats are misleading.

If you take a generic man that's working at XYZ Corporation as an analyst and get a woman working the same job at a similar company, she'd make $0.96 for every dollar he makes. So there's a gap but it's small.

What they usually show is "women make $0.70 for every $1 a man makes...." which just compares the salary of men versus the salary of women WITHOUT accounting for what jobs they're doing.

It makes people think women are further behind than they actually are. Boomer men had a significant advantage on Boomer women. The gap narrowed with Gen X and narrowed further with Millenials.

Gen Z women are probably gonna inch ahead of their men just off the strength of education. Gen Z men aren't doing the military, college or trades.....so no idea how they're going to keep pace.
