The way they're playing with nuclear apocalypse and the Northern Irish troubles as political capital is completely fukking disgusting.

:hhh:

Oh yeah, NI has only been in fragile peace after a 80 year armed conflict for 20 years... plenty of actual combatants on both sides are still alive and dutifully burying the memories for the sake of lasting peace, but let's just rake over it all again because the election campaign is nosediving.

:hhh:

I've also run my own company and worked for some of the biggest and best paying corps too... I've been paid via dividend and PAYE... I can honestly say that however I've made my money, I have never begrudged a single penny of the tax I've paid. Makes me feel patriotic every time I get a chance to contribute to my country.

The NHS was great when we were all kids. What is it that's changed? It's been going slowly to shyt ever since, hmm, about 1979... and what've we had since then... Oh, both main parties have been yoked around a conservative economic consensus that created the mess of public/private partnerships that have left the NHS drowning in waste and lost money to Serco shareholder profits.

They still managed to save my girlfriend's life two weeks ago. Every single place u walked in the hospital nurses were praying for a Labour victory. So it's fukk people like you and me right now, I know what'd be best for ME - I earn well, have a mortgage and have never claimed a benefit... I bet the Tories could see me right for the next few years if they scrapped taxation altogether... but I'm not a fukking island. I'm in the top 5% of the country and the top 1% of the world - I have a basic human need due to not being a myopic psychopath to make sure the other 99% are listened to and given the same chances I get.

I also recently discovered a basic human need not to choose between bereavement and bankruptcy if a loved one collapses again. We're all only a couple of steps from being fukked if you give all the safety nets to Edward Scissorhands.

Why is your girlfriend going to the NHS when you are in the top 5% ? You can afford private healthcare
That procedure could have gone to poorer individuals with less means but you're using public funds
because you are a patriot ?

That wealthy entitlement :banderas:

How is this election going to help the 99% of the world get the same chances you got ?

You are a f*cking western businessman ... cut the sanctimonious bullsh!t :hhh:

You talk a good game but ya pockets and actions show your true colors :demonic:

Get off your soapbox, you are a capitalist just like the rest of us. :salute:

Because in a genuine life-or-death emergency you dial 999 and the NHS saves your life. You don't ring your healthcare provider and see how long it'll take to get the fancy ambulance over. :mjlol:Her aftercare is all going private.

Rest of the world, it'll help that we don't run quite as enthusiastically into bombing foreign brown people, but obviously I'm mainly thinking about the 95% of Britons who need a leg up right now.

I'm a Briton. I was raised in the tradition of Tony Benn. Rich men should be more about solving poverty than anyone else.

I'm a social capitalist, not a libertarian. British, old bean, not American.. we're capable of a bit more nuance in our economic morality. I'm broad-sighted enough to realise that my life is made less safe, less comfortable and my income less secure if I'm an island of riches surrounded by poverty. I live in the East End. I'd have to remove my own eyes to be able to ignore the effects of inequality.

The short-termism of "I'm alright, Jack" is exactly what led us to this mess.
