Feels like theres no new young superstars to take over from kendrick, drake, cole…. Theres some people here and there that pop up but they don’t seem to have staying power.

I saw the top selling hip hop albums of 2022 somewhere and it was drake, kendrick, future, etc. same shyt as the years before

This is not some “the 90s were a million times better” thing (and they were). The combination of clout chasing and a serious demise in skills being a requirement for artists has killed rap.

Of course after the 90s dope *ss artists have dropped great albums, but rap today and the new artists - honestly it is trash.

I bump Victory Lap - the last dope start to finish album. But even then 95% of rap was tragic. Roddy during his run I liked a lot, Dolph was dope. Ross’ Richer Than I Ever Been still had some very good tracks.

But overall: new rappers are a waste of time

• No conscious rappers to discuss how fukked we are living
• No animated rappers that are on some Luda/Busta shyt with skills
• All the backpackers are on Bandcamp and hidden from the public
• Coke raps= Modern day lyrical spirituals

The game is fukked if we keeping it a buck, but it's better to hear how much the weight is moved to some drumless beats vs a bunch of shirtless goofies waving guns and talking about some opps that got smoked
